I think those of us with indoor animal companions will recover faster than others. This, btw, is a research proven fact, i.e. animals lower blood pressure and people with animals have better mental health. I participate in therapy work at a local nursing home with two of mine (have for over 4 years). While my employees at work become peevish and downright boring with their behavior, I can come home and be greeted with the same boundless enthuiasm and happiness no matter what my mood. They take my mind off my awful " prozac brain drain " and they keep me busy going and doing " doggie activities " . No time to get or be depressed...I really REALLLLLY do think they have saved my life with this SSRI withdrawal and disease I have b/c without them, I would have shut my doors and windows and NEVER EVER gone out except to the grocery store or to work. Because they need daily exercise and I compete with them in doggie sports that requires athletic training, I am FORCED to get out and do (despite the fact that I am exhausted). This has literally saved my butt........Now you all know for SURE I am nuts. The animals are a great diversion from our own mistery during withdrawal. Blind Reason a novel of espionage and pharmaceutical intrigue Think your antidepressant is safe? Think again.
