Guest guest
Hi , I have known my family to have quite a few autoimmune diseases. I don't think there was a pattern seen until I developed autoimmune problems. Mother had pernicious anemia, rheumatoid arthritis, GERD, and Dad had psoriasis and ALS. There is a question about the ALS being autoimmune but I've heard it possibly is. Also, my brother has psoriasis. Some other members of our family had hereditary problems but I don't really know what all was autoimmune in nature. I think the tendency to acquire autoimmune problems does run in the family. Guest guest
Hi Pam, Before I forget! Good luck at your neuro's. I have problems with memory at times! I dunno but I was very angry when I sat down and really looked over the trials with avonex. There weren't very many people in the trial that got it fda approved. 271 at the end. Plus it doesn't follow those who did not respond well to it. I was frustrated when my neuro. agreed that the crabs were modest at best. I thought why didn't you say that in the beginning. The avonex gave me heavy periods. It also messed with my dental health. Low grade temps. and flu like side effects 2 days a week. On it a year and still got flu like symptoms. Hair loss and depression and finally suicidal ideation that I never had. That put a stop to my avonex use. I doubt very much that my symptoms were documented. I know biogen is not publishing my symptoms or findings. My periods are back to normal as is my dental health, hair, depression and suicidal ideation. I feel like screaming from the top of a high building to others to be careful but I know some do respond to these crab drugs. My eyebrows are normal. My family doc. periodically checks my thyroid function. He did last month as he was trying to get to the bottom of my chronic low grade temps. Hidradenitis suppurativa is a disease of the aprocrine sweat bearing glands. It causes painful lesions that don't respond to antibiotics, prednisone or other. It's not uncommon and actually occurs with every 1 in 300. There is no cure and it is thought to be linked to insulin resistance and pcos. I had heard of ldn a few years back but had forgotten about it. Just recently an online friend with ms started it and claimed it changed her life. So I aproached my neuro. who gave me a script. The one thing that sets it apart from other medications that claim to relieve everything is the profit factor. Near as I can see no one is making profit by sales of it. I actually based my decision on the success my friend had and talking with my neuro. who felt it wouldn't harm me. Oh and also I had an awful reaction to the copaxone and was trying to get into a study with antegren (tysbri) but had trouble with the iv. We all know how that turned out. Soooooo compared to what I had gone through anything ldn could do paled in comparrison. Take Care Pam and good luck! Yayyyyy I remembered! Lol! > Hi : > > I took Avonex for a time but it was what actually > innitiated/aggravated my Graves disease as well as thrust me into a > false menopause (actually documented).
