Guest guest
Matt, You bring up good points. I thought it was low to me until I talked with the company in person. I had them come to my office. The owner came down herself. The owner has done billing for many years and worked for other billing companies before she went out on her own. As far as the number of staff members, I am not sure. The service level guarantee in the contract which spells out the time frame things will be performed in, provides for financial penalties these points are not met. I feel this gives the billing company incentive to have enough staff. As far as I can tell, the software has been stable. We have been given log in information to the billing software and clearinghouse to be able to see our claims. Being in my state of NC, they are familiar with our state and insurances here. This was a problem with out last billing company who had no clue on how to deal with some of the insurance companies in NC, especially NC Medicaid. Normal rates here are 6-10% with 10 percent being the most quoted rate. And I checked with alot of companies, when I decided to change companies. My billing company said they cap their rates at 6%. So I am happy to find what I think is a good company at a good rate. They are called TLC Medical Billing. They are in New Bern, NC. They do a great job and are not outrageously priced. They have a program for small/start up practices that charges 3% of collections. This program would cover most IMP's, I think. This is 3% of what they collect. They do not include self pay money or co-pays. This is unusual for my area not to include self pay or co-pays. They even have service level guarantees in their contracts spelling out the timeframe for filing claims, posting payments, and taking care of denials. Guest guest
Matt, I understand the Medicaid pain. We are dropping Medicaid as of February 1st. The final straw for me was the fact that NC Medicaid want providers to pay $100.00 for initial enrollment or re-credentialing in the program. I was applying for a group number and got hit with this one. I refused to pay a fee to be apart of a system that does not want to pay me fairly.
