side effects of the beta drugs . A Question I have is . She has been taking 4.5

every night at 9:30 . Sleep is not bad but some nights restless , after being up

for a short time in the morning she seems to get tired. Last night she took her

LDN at 8:30 ( just an hour earlier ) and today she feels great. Do you think by

taking it early she is not benifiting from endorphine blockade that it performs

LDN MUST MUST MUST be taken between the hours of 9PM and 3AM to halt disease

progression. Taking LDN at any other time just possibly helps symptoms ONLY.

Feeling tired the next day during the first 3 months on LDN is not unusual.

Endorphins are going thru an adjustment period and have not leveled off yet. If

your wife does not have high blood pressure or take an antidepressant or have

PKU or Melanoma try DL-Phenylalanine 500mg twice per day. Dr. Bihari recommends

DL-Phenylalanine 500mg 2 times per day to keep endorphins up throughout the day.

I use Solaray brand of DL-Phenylalanine 500mg...there are other brands. Make

sure it is the DL-P and not just the L-P or D-P, it must be the combo DL-P and

make sure it's the 500mg capsules.

Thanks for the response . I think that she's been on so many drugs for so long And that she's doing so well on the LDN that she will most likely stay off any additional drugs that she can do without. She really is a poster child of succsess for LDN so far . 3 weeks on and she's better than anytime in the last 3 yearsBren <TwisterAlley2@...> wrote: >> [input] [input] [input] [input] My wife Vicki started on LDN 3 weeks ago after being on all the crab drugs and opieds for 4-5 years . Dr. Bihari does recommend DL-Phenylalanine 500mg twice per day if one can take

it. It it a supplement you get at the healthfood store...it's not a

prescription drug. Dr. B. told my mom to use DL-P 500mg 2x's per day along with

her 4.5mg LDN. I use DL-P 500mg 2x's per day with my 4.5mg LDN. It can

compliment the LDN. Something to consider.

I am wondering if daylight savings time , which is playing with the "real" time factors into this. Therefore 8:30pm would be actually 9:30pm? No? Kiki

Steve, I'm glad to hear that your wife is doing so well on LDN. It is

common to have insomnia for a while after starting. Since Dr. Bihari

recommends taking it no earlier than 9, might it make sense for Vicki to try

taking it then instead of at 8:30?

I'm curious what others have to say about this...

Hi , I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for in

response to " I'm curious what others have to say about this " I just

wanted to mention that when I first started ldn I changed from 9pm to

7pm and slept alot better. Then mentioned to stop disease

progression, it's imperative to take it after 9pm so I changed back. I

have no idea why two hours would make that much difference in my sleep

but it did. How long before your sleep pattern returned to normal?

Do you work the graveyard shift? Most take their LDN at 9pm, 9:30pm, 10pm,

10:30pm or 11pm. Night workers generally take their LDN in the wee hours of the

morning.

, I was experiencing a little insomnia before starting LDN. The

second night I took LDN, I actually felt a flutter in my forehead! For

about three weeks afterwards, I had vivid dreams and would wake up several

times a night. The last part went on for about six weeks. I ended up

taking a quarter of an Ambien. I'm not sure my sleep has ever returned to

normal, though it's much better than that. I still take the Ambien. I have

tried EVERYTHING: valerien, melatonin, tapes, etc. I'm sure menopause

doesn't help!

Hi , I am having vivid dreams also. It's no biggie as I

haven't had any nightmares. I find dreams kind of interesting. Last

night I fell asleep at 11:30pm and didn't get up until 9:30am. Even

then I had to drag myself out of bed. I am wondering if my whole

sleep cycle is changing?

I have all kinds of strange feelings. In a way it's good that I have

ms. How else would I explain it ;op

I am leary to start taking anything for sleep. I take the provigil

to wake up and don'twant to get into a vicious cycle. Maybe I will

try and take it a little later than 9:30pm.

Does everyone have to be on the dose of 4.5mg to stop progression or

do some halt it on 3mg?

I have not reached menopause yet. *rolls eyes* No doubt it could

mess with your sleep! Too bad we couldn't just skip that phase of

our lives!

Hi and :

I havn't started LDN yet. I hope to. I have had MS for 36 years.

I also had an autoimmune Thyroid disease that frequently appears

with MS. My doctor told me was caused an " error " in the brain

regulation of the thyroid. Symptoms of elevated thyroid include

sleeplessness, vivid dreams, and frequent night time urination. If

the thyroid regulator is also impacted by the LDN that would explain

why those symptoms occur and then subside after a few weeks. It

takes a few weeks for the thyroid to correct itself. Did you also

lose weight? Have faster growing nails or hair or any other

symptoms?

I had my thyroid removed so it will be interesting to see if I have

the same symptoms.

Hi

For about a year or so I took LDN daily for pain - (I had 2 necrotic hips which have now been replaced). As you know, at "normal" therapeutic doses (eg: 50mg), naltrexone is an opiate antagonist (opiate "blocker"). That's why it is used to detox drug users who OD. But paradoxically, at low doses - 3 - 4.5mg - it is an opiate agonist. It assists the body's natural opiate (endorphin) production. Since, according to Bilhari, the human body creates the greatest amount of endorphins between about midnight and 2.00am, that's the time to take LDN to boost the body's own chemical pain and "feel-good" system. Maybe you are just missing the peak time by taking it too late by an hour or two????

Just a thought.

You need to start going to bed by 10pm or 11pm...staying up to the wee hours of

the morning contributes to fatigue...I should know as before LDN I suffered

severe insomnia for many years...LDN corrected that insomnia about 6 months into

the treatment. I take my LDN at 9pm and I struggle to stay awake till 10:30pm.

try taking your LDN at 9:30pm or 10:pm and don't stay up any later than

midnight. You do not have to go to bed when you take your LDN but start taking

your LDN around 9:30pm or 10pm.

I find that even when I'm not working, I still take it around 1AM. I figure between 11pm and 1am should be optimum, if the range is 9pm-3am... in the middle. I haven't noticed fatigue differences between 1 and 2:30am. I'll have to experiment and see. I'm going to start writing down the time I take it. My cell goes off at 1am and I get to it when I can... sometimes I get distracted and it's later.

If you're not working, then I guess you could try it at different times, write them down, and try to repeat the same time for a number of days in a row, before changing. I haven't really noticed any patterns of fatigue. There are times I just have to stop and take a break, other times I go 16-18 hours without one. I just don't do much later on in the day before finally heading off to sleep.

I've had interrupted sleeping pattern almost every night since

starting LDN 2.5 months ago. had mentioned that it may help

to take LDN at the exact time every night. This still hasn't helped

me with sleep. I had vivid dreams the first month but that

subsided. I'm reluctant to take any sleeping aid but it sure is

tempting.....

I had to take as much as 15mg of melatonin 30 minutes before I took my LDN for

the first 6 months on LDN treatment. Before LDN I suffered extreme insomnia for

many years but after 6 months on LDN & the melatonin my sleep is now very

regulated and has stayed regulated for 2 years. I started on 4.5mg LDN and have

continued to stick with that dose.

Hi Pam,

Best of luck on the ldn! I also have another of what I believe to be

an auto immune disease. Its called hidradenitis suppurativa. I will

be crossing my fingers that the ldn helps that.

What kind of autoimmune thyroid disease do you have? My cousin has

graves disease. Its amazing how many suffer from thyroid diseases.

Thats very interesting about the ldn and an elevated thyroid. It

will be interesting to see what happens with you. I haven't been

here very long but it would seem many get the sleep issue. So you

may be on to something.

I couldn't tell you what my hair and nails are normally like. The

avonex caused hair loss but gave me nicer nails. Go figure! I have

to say with winter and dry conditions my nails are very brittle.

It might be that some people do best at different times. It does not seem

to make a difference for my husband anywhere between 9pm to 1am. Mostly he

takes it at 11.
