Have you gotten hooked up with your local Regional center or the like? They

are paying for a home based ABA program for us - 10 hours a week which isn't

much but much better than nothing and compliments very well the 10 hours she

got at school, thru the school district. I know that regional centers do

this, check into it if it's available to you.

I'm sure that there are people on this list recieving home based services

thru the school district but just who skips my mind LOL Pam for ,

perhaps? Good luck with that. Also, I would definitely go for the quality

aide 2/3rds of the day personally!

As for the aide, it wouldn't fly in our district. I think the thing you need

sorry, computer send prematurely. Our district has a union for assistants and

that pretty much dictates who is in what position.

Anyway, I'd consider what exactly would be expected of the teacher. was

a runner at that age and needed the one on one to stay with the group and not

start neg. behaviors. A classroom teacher couldn't have stayed on top of him

and still managed the rest of the class. I know some kids do much better than

reg. ed. classroom without an aide.

Good luck,

Karyn,

Thanks for the suggestions. Tim isn't really a " runner " . I do think that

they could manage them for the short amount of time in the classroom

without an attendant...last year there were only 7 children in his

classroom and a teacher, assistant and 2 aides (one of which was

Timmy's). So with that kind of ratio I don't know why the hour would

matter. I would like his teacher to have more contact with him anyway....I

am thinking of going for the quality vs quantity at this point but don't

know what the school system will agree to. I am going to contact my

advocate from MRDD here in the next week and have a talk with her before we

go into the IEP meeting.

thanks again

Hi ,

My husband was taking Paxil with LDN. He had no problems with it. He did

however get off of it after starting DL-Phenylalanine, which completely took

his depression away. He never had much relief from the Paxil and other anti

depressants that he tried. He has been on DL-Phenylalanine since last

February with great success.

Dear Aletha

I want to get off Paxil. I heard that you can't just stop all of a sudden, you have to taper it off very carefully. How did your husband do this? I would ask my neuro but he seems to be not very good on t his type thing.....for example despite having me on steroids for a year he never thoght it would be important for me to take any acid reducer or calcium supplement either...so I dont necessarily trust his opinion about some things!

Hi Nola,

I think you are on the right track. I would try taking the DLP and slowly taper off of the Paxil. Especially if you are feeling better. was more abrupt about it. He kept taking the Paxil until one week on DLP. He was just feeling so much better that he decided he did not need the Paxil and he stopped. But that might not be the best way to go about it. He did not seem to have a problem with it, but everyone is different. I would taper off slowly. Do you think you will try the DLP? He started by taking 2 pills a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Always works best on an empty stomach. It should not be taken if you have high blood pressure, or if you have cancer.

Paxil and the other anti depressants never worked well for my husband. But boy did the DLP. He now only takes one in the morning and is still doing great.

My best
