Guest guest
Gosh , I am so sorry things have been so rough for you. I'm glad you posted though and are reaching out to us!!!! I know not being able to Taebo is a very frustrating thing all on it's own but when you are also in pain and on medication that doesn't help a person lose weight (which I think is almost all medicine except diet and water pills LOL ) it's even worse - doesn't make sense, when you need Taebo the most, you can't do it. I hope you can get on top of the pain and that this works for you. I know I need to lose weight because of having the acid reflux plus I know I'm just not at a healthy weight and with having heart disease in my family - I need to get rid of these extra pounds. That is frustrating all in itself. Please, try to just worry about getting rid of the pain and not the weight gain. I know, it's so much easier said then done but if you concentrate on all of that right now, it is only going to make you more depressed. Do what you can and be proud of yourself for doing that. Maybe do some chair exercises for now. Can you swim at all or does that aggravate the ankle too? Just lifting weights in your chair will make you feel better just because your doing something. I think feeling like you can't do this and you can't do that is what makes a person feel so low. I know it did me. Take care and keep us posted!!! le > Hello everyone! I've missed you so much. Guest guest
Thanks, le! The physical therapist has designed a series of strengthening exercises for me, and last week I started weight bearing exercises like leg presses. I'm also able to go to the track and walk up to a mile as long as I don't do too much. All in all, I'm proud of my progress thus far. I'm still working my upper body too, but it's frustrating not to get much cardio. I spent about an hour on Sunday in my cousin's pool. It was great! I did a few exercises, but I mostly floated around on a noodle! I couldn't believe how wonderful I felt afterward. I intend to discuss hydrotherapy with the physical therapist tomorrow. You are right about not concentrating on the weight gain because the more I think about it, the more I eat. I will keep you posted. Thanks for being so sweet! Guest guest
I'll definitely take you up on that offer! There aren't any support groups in my area and most of the things I read on the RSD website scared me. I have a long day tomorrow and need to get to bed, so I'll email later. Thanks! I really needed to know someone else out there is able to TaeBo with RSD. :) In a message dated 8/20/2002 4:18:31 AM Eastern Daylight Time, taebo4life@... writes: > Man I am sorry to hear of your issues -- I have RSD -- and I have > endured those Lumbar shots -- to no avail for me -- hope they > work better for you !!! > > peace > ab-who says yes you will TaeBo again RSD made me start to > exercise -- it certainly helps the pain > > ps if you ever need to ask questions or just cry on a shoulder I > am here -- and have been through it before SURVIVOR -- and > you will be too > >
Guest guest
What is RSD? hugs,
Guest guest
Hi, ! It's Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Basically it's caused most commonly from an ankle injury or after a person has surgery on his/her back (I read this in last Sunday's newspaper.). For me, it's my ankle. Long after my ankle healed, the pain is still there, and it's not appropriate for the minor injury I had to my ankle. If you'd like more information there is a website: www.rsds.org. I'm sure the information on the website will be more clear.
