Guest guest
Does anyone still use the estradiol and progesterone from the Wiley Protocol, but in lower doses? Is there any reason that it is an inferior product? I still have a supply of her stuff, but have cut it waay down, and seem to be doing okay. Also, does anyone have any feedback on whether hair loss stops, and hair gets thicker again? Guest guest
Hi Madeleen, Interesting. What form of estradiol do you use that doesn't get asorbed as fast? By the way, Oestrogel is bio-identical, right? > > > > > the prescription items I have at my disposal in the meantime, > until > > > I find the right doctor. Guest guest
, I could not use the PCCA cream that most bio-identical hormones come in. There are chemicals in that cream I am allergic to. So I order my estradiol from Womens International Pharmacy and they put it in olive oil for me. Now the olive oil E goes in somewhat fast too, although not as fast as the Oestrogel (and yes it is bio-identical), so I am slowing it down with an organic "Healthy Aging" Daily Moisterizing cream. I put the cream on first and then apply the drops of olive oil E. Works good for me! Madeleen JGC wrote: Hi Madeleen,Interesting. Guest guest
I use the Wiley protocol E and P, as I have explained in numerous posts on this list, so no need for repetition of details here. I will be doing an update soon, although I postponed my July 10 appoint. with Dr. Morton to July 31. I began my cycle today, seventh or eighth, I have lost count, after beginning the program Dec. 30, and I am doing GREAT! But I attribute that fact to my doctor, not to Wiley! Guest guest
Even though I have said it over and over, I realize I probably need to state NOW, again, for the record, so others on this list won't get upset with me AGAIN, LOL, that I use the full standard Wiley protocol for E but only half of the Wiley standard protocol for P. I have done that since my first month on the program when I had problems using the full P dosage -- my doctor and staff, who have about 200 patients on Wiley and variations of it, told me how to adjust my program, as I was in touch with them almost weekly for months, as they wanted to know about every little symptom, good or bad! I get my hormones from The Medicine Shoppe downtown in Santa Barbara, and Adella is the pharmacist who does the compounding for the Wiley hormones there. Anyone wanting to know all the details so far about my program that I began Dec. 30 can look up my old posts on this list, which I joined in April or May this year. Reading them in order will make the most sense. > > > In rhythmicliving , " Seymour " > <jeanieseymour@> wrote: > > > > Does anyone still use the estradiol and progesterone from the Wiley > > Protocol, but in lower doses? Guest guest
Hi Madeleen, I'm about to try sublingual E and P tabs from Belleview Pharmacy, but if I go to transdermal, I'll keep the olive oil drops in mind. Olive oil is appealing as a transporter, since it's a natural and healthy substance. > > > > > > > the prescription items I have at my disposal in the meantime, > > until > > > > I find the right doctor. Guest guest
Top Posting....Check out the archives, . There is a wealth of info there from about her doctor.  But to my mind, Leah Morton hasn't distanced herself from Wiley enough to make me comfortable. Saying one is Rxing the WP when in fact 1/2 dosing or much less is not ok. Anybody that gives support to the idea that suprapharmalogical doses of P is ok - grrrr   On the other hand Dr. Vliet has excellent books which discuss the down side of P. She has clear support for E and a very level head about P. LaurelHi ,Wow, it sounds like you have a great doctor! Guest guest
Laurel - I STILL want to know what Vliet says to do about fibroids that the wonderful E stimulates to bleed!!! Because this happens to me no matter how LOW I go on my E. Guest guest
, I joined this list in April or May this year and if you go back and do a search using my name or email address, and scan my posts from that time forward, you will have the documented history of my experience and progress (hopefully) using a modified version of the Wiley protocol. Dr. Leah Morton is at Isis Medicine in Santa Fe, N.M. and my posts will tell you all you need to know about her and probably more! LOL She has a long history of working with compounded hormones and is a holistic physician well known for her adherence to natural methods in the Santa Fe area. She has been using Wiley's hormones herself for two years and has about 200 patients on the program, but she finetunes the amounts for each individual, as she did and is doing for me. I deal mostly with her staff, often once or twice a week by phone while we adjusted my program as needed that I began about Jan. 1 of this year. But I will see Dr. Morton July 31. I haven't seen Dr. Morton since November and given all the controvery around Wiley I have learned of since that time, for all I know, when I see her in a few weeks, she will say she wants me off Wiley! It will be interesting to see where she stands at this point in time, and I will certainly share what I learn on this list. She is the only person I would ever have trusted to help me through a controversial program like Wiley's, modified or not! I don't generally trust MDs, Dr. Morton being the exception for me. She has been my ob/gyn for almost 15 years. The fact she herself is doing the program, when I know a few years ago she was against ALL HRT of any kind, compounded or synthetic, is very important for me in terms of that trust factor! > > Hi , > > Wow, it sounds like you have a great doctor! Guest guest
I feel I need to clarify something I said last night, in the post below. Dr. Morton is a 'pro-natural' type of doctor, but that doesn't mean she won't prescribe drugs when she knows there is a need or a desire on the part of the patient. But the types of books sold at Isis Medicine tell you a lot about the philosophy of the practitioners there -- natural childbirth, nursing, no scent allowed in the office, etc. etc. If someone even bathes with scented soap that can be detected, they make us go home and reschedule our appointment! The waiting room has dowsing journals to read! Very 'Santa Fe.' LOL But those of us who are lucky enough to have Dr. Morton as our doctor count our blessings, given how she stands apart from most MDs, and how hard it is to become her patient these days! As an MD who has been in practice for decades, she knows all about the various types of HRT, and has used compounded hormones in her practice for years. I don't know for a fact but suspect she has used compounded hormones about as long as any MD has in the U.S., since she always tends to be on the cutting edge of these things. What I meant when I said she was against all use of HRT last night was that when she herself went into menopause, she intended/hoped to go through it 'naturally' without using any HRT of any kind, as that to her was the ideal. But she told me that within two months after entering menopause she had to start using a compounded estrogen because she was losing her memory! That was in 1999 when she told me that, and in those days the goal was to use as low a dosage as possible. Obviously using the Wiley program was a complete turnaround from her previous thinking, with its high doses of estrogen. I have talked about her reasoning and process in respect to Wiley in my earlier posts, so won't repeat that here. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for all the info on Dr. Morton. She sounds like a great doctor. Last week I was in Chicago for 5 days for a conference of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (the A4M). I did meet a doctor there who I think may become my and my husband's new anti- aging doctor. His name is Ron Rothenburg, and he's in San Diego. He was one of the speakers at the conference, and a leader in the field. He's currently working on a new book on female hormone replacement with Suzanne Somers. Anyhow, it's great that you have such a good doctor, and such a good relationship with her. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > the prescription items I have at my disposal in the > > > meantime, > > > > > >until > > > > > > > > I find the right doctor. Guest guest
Somers' book is supposed to be out in the fall. I have a pretty good sense that Wiley won't be in it. Last year Somers' doctor, Galitzer, got Wiley into ACAM and there was lots of talk about her being in the book.   After what I saw with Wiley and ACAM, the Anti-Aging conference, Hertoghe and their due diligence with Wiley ----> I am very cautious about anyone. To my mind collecting clues and insights from everyone is extremely valuable, but I'm much more cautious now. Dr. Morton is highly praised by . It concerns me that she tell women she uses the Wiley Protocol when in fact she is doing much lower and more reasonable dosing. However, 1/2 dosing of the P4 on the WP is still not in the range of reasonable.  I have strong opinions about the risks with transdermal progesterone given that it can't be measured and it clears from the body extremely slowly.I'm green that you got to go to the conference! (-:  That's fabulous, . I've heard Hertoghe's lectures on tape, but I couldn't see the visuals he was describing.  LaurelThanks for all the info on Dr. Morton. She sounds like a great doctor. Guest guest
Well isn't this interesting. I thought that Somers' next book was supposed to be " all about Wiley " . Guess it didn't work for Suzanne eh? Maybe she started losing some hair!! I never heard another thing about Suzanne on Wiley. > > Somers' book is supposed to be out in the fall.
