For the last few years, he is on B-100 complex three times a day, B-6 50 mg three times a day, thiamine and biotin 5 mg, three times a day..... plus other stuff, like the Magnesium to make it work, etc. Doesn't your doc test for folic acid? This, as well as others, is depleted by Depakote and this depletion can cause trouble. Charlie is now on Depakote, 1250 mg/day as a monotherapy. The 500 mg of Lamictal was not available in an IV form while he was in the hospital for cancer surgery for two months. He is stable neurologically without the Lamictal at least for now. I think that for my son, B supplements along with others are critically important. For a food route, try brewer's yeast for amino acids and B complex. My son's diet has been 'real food, low on sugar' for over 30 years. Lots of lean protein, raw and cooked fruits and veggies and for the past two years, few grains. Supplemented with 'healthy brain fats'..... olive oil, fish oil, virgin coconut oil and flaxseed oil mixed into yoghurt. We use pineapple and papaya for digestive enzymes (Depakote causes malabsorption) plus either apple cider vinegar or Betaine HCl for stomach acid and warming herbs and spices to stimulate the digestive system, let's not forget that Depakote is a central nervous system depressant. Hope this helps........ we eat lots of parsley, kale and chard instead of spinach to deal with the iron issue. Charlie's Mom
