Guest guest
Courage, I must agree. I didn't like what Rush said either. For one thing getting in front of the cameras could very well make the symptoms worse. I know was in front of cameras a lot, but each time sends a small touch of anxiety which could have made the symptoms worse. Why in the world would he want to fake something that serious? I don't buy Rush's comments. There are good days and bad days, as you said, and that could have been a bad day, as well as the stress of getting dressed, going to the studio, going through the commercial how many umteen times? Could have all stressed him. I never have like Rush and now I know why. Imogene Caregiver for my True Texas Gentleman husband of 35 years. He has LBD with Parkinsonism. There are a number of place to get stem cells - from adults, from cord blood and placenta (we donated ours from both kids )... that we don't need to get them from embryos. *Embyonic* stem cell research means you have no objection to scientists creating embryoes (ie. babies !) in the lab and then killing them to harvest the stem cells. As a women who went through the whole infertility thing - I know many of us struggled with making sure we didn't have extra embryos (i.e. babies !) while undergoing these treatments. So I fully endorse stem cell research - but NOT getting them from embryos. Bush does not support *embryonic* research ... but he *does* support stem cell research just like the rest of us. Guest guest
I think his purpose was to show what happens when you don't have the meds and also to show what a person with Parkinson's really deals with. If he had come to the Congress after taking the meds, they would not have any idea what doing w/o meds does to them. His purpose is to show that stem cell research is absolutely essential for trying to find a cure for this disease as well as the dementia diseases. I was unable to get Rush's response, but knowing him, it was probably scathing. I heard Hannity's, tho, and they are both just parrots for Fox Network. They are given their " talking points " every day, and if you listen to them and Bill O'Reilly, you get the same story, sometimes presented in different words. --- donna@... wrote: > Quoting mamajacqui@...: > > > Courage > > I resently read an article on Micheal and how he > uses his meds to go on with > > his acting and must take them at a certain time or > they don't work when he > > needs them to work. Guest guest
Good for you! Maybe Rush is just " acting " when he says he has a hearing problem, which probably was a result of his taking " legal " drugs. He has the audacity to talk about drug addicts and thinks they are just terrible, but he was an addict, too, and got his " legal " drug illegally. He's just as bad as any drug addict in that respect. Why would anyone fake symptoms of Parkinson's such as Fox. I have seen him on the Letterman show, and he has to hold his arms and legs to keep them from moving. Guest guest
From what I understood, Fox went before the legislature without his meds to show them what Parkinson's is like. I think his point was to let them know how devastating the disease is and that stem cell research, which they were voting on, was necessary to help find a treatment/cure for the disease. I think the picture that is being shown wasn't an advertisement; I think it was his appearance before the legislature and they are using it as an advertisement in support of the Missouri Democratic candidate. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but from Hannity's radio show today, I thought that's what it was about. --- mamajacqui@... wrote: > I wasn't talking about the ad. I was talking about > when he works. Guest guest
My Uncle Mel, dad's oldest brother, passed away one year ago the end of November. He had Parkinson's. Uncle Mel used to say he had " on " days and " off " days. He was very talented musically. On his off days he couldn't play his guitar, mandolin, or hammered dulcimer. He struggled walking, talking, and being involved with people around him. And, as you said Imogene, stressful days played a huge role in this. Guest guest
There is an old joke, that goes something like this: If you have only one attorney in town, and he/she is under employeed. Get a 2nd attorney, and both will be busy. Apparently, there is disagreement for embryo stem cell research among PhD Biochemists, Neurologists, etc. I just want to find a cure for Parkinsons' Disease and LBD. Even better would be a way to prevent them like Sauk did for Polio. There are so many things that unite this LBD group. We had best concentrate on those issues. My wife and I didn't wait for the November Election. She has surgery scheduled at Mayo Clinic the day before, so we already voted, absentee last week. We didn't talk before hand, but we talked after: neither of us voted a straight ticket. The majority of Congressmen and Senators: Both Republican controlled branches of the U.S. Congress voted last month to approve new embryo stem cell research. The President vetoed the bill. Our pastor prays for all things good for our President Bush: I also wish him the blessing of wise leadership. We are all praying for a miracle. I was a sitting member of my church council, when the Pastor proposed that we endorse G.W.Bush for President at the last election. I spoke up and said with certainty: this was the best issue we could find to divide and separate our congregation. At my church council, we moved on to the next issue.
