Guest guest
I find 1tbsp of baking soda in water a few times a day works wonders. It is cheap, easy on the body and helps balance the pH. There is also a product called Alkala that works well, it comes with pH paper so you measure your pH to see how much you need. It works very well. good luck, [low dose naltrexone] Antacid Hi Everyone - just saw the thread about tumsThe other week I stumbled across this forum page about an easy cure for acid reflux http://www.abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/25315/Basically the homeopathic remedy Nat Phos 6x.I bought this for $5 from a local homeopath for my husband who has this problem. Guest guest
Quick test for cause of heartburn--a spoonfull of lemon juice or vinegar relieves discomfort---heartburn from lack of digestive acid and anti-acids only worsen the problem. Guest guest
Hi Shirley, The Apple Cider Vinegar works very well for me. Is it supposed to be Apple Cider Vinegar? I noticed on the site that was posted earlier for acid vs. alkaline, that Apple Cider Vinegar is on the alkaline side. Guest guest
What is the best method to test your PH and where would one find it? Guest guest
Yes, I thought I had heartburn a while back. I tried Apple cider Vinegar and it was gone quickly.
Guest guest
Althea, Google “TRIMEDICA” and you will find ph paper in roll form for roughly $8 – 10 per roll which if testing 4 or 5 times a day would last at least 3 months. Obviously testing less frequently would last a lot longer. There are a number of other makers of paper, but short of spending $30 per roll for Bristol Meyers, it is the easiest to read and most accurate out there of the 2 dozen or so types available. Saliva and urine both in the 6.5 to 7 range is a reasonable goal. The more acid the body, the more prone to infections. Example, typically cancer victims will start as low as 4 with active cancer. Raising the ph level by good dietary practice is a reasonable health preventive measure just for general purpose. Saliva most closely mimics blood condition. Urine ph generally is .5 lower than saliva and follows about 3 hours later. Too high, over 7.5 consistently is not particularly good for you, but I have yet to see anyone that high consistently. Today’s dietary practices make that almost impossible. Guest guest
....best 'cure' for acid reflux, GERD, heartburn, etc is a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar - Gramma knew best... {...if you take it straight, all goes away and does not return...} ....all the others are just the opposite for what your stomach {acid} is trying to accomplish. {...your improper eating habits, insufficient saliva, too much other liquid, not chewing well, usually NOT what you ate...} Take it from a person who did all those others for over 30 years and now has esophageal cancer {adenocarcinoma}. DO NOT USE ANTACIDS - Why do you think your body doesn't know what it's doing. Mix 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar, with 2 tbsp of local honey - in 8 ozs of warm water {to dissolve the honey}. You can add ice, cinnamon, ginger, cayenne, lime/lemon juice -- I even add other flavorful & healthful herbs & spices - kinda' even have gotten to like the taste - I mix it in 168 oz quantities at a time - lasts for weeks when refrigerated... Guest guest
You can test urin pH or saliva pH. I got my pH paper with the alkala, but I think most drug stores carry pH testing paper. Guest guest
The problem with apple cider vinegar is the taste, there are some people that will just refuse to drink it. My daughter is one of them (Ok, a child, so a bit understandable). But one of my husbands friends has gout and I've shown him websites about apple cider vinegar helping the gout, and he can sit there and be in severe pain from it and will still refuse to drink an apple cider vinger, honey, water mix. This is a sensible adult who should know better and should just drink the stuff (I certainly would, as does my other daughter and we just sit there together and have a competition as who will finish first and suck it up with a straw LOL). So I think there needs to be options for the difficult people in this world who wont drink yucky things.
