Hey Jen -

I was going to try Katterman's cream but this sounds better. I

didn't even think to ask though if there are any preservatives in

there we have to worry about! Or something that will make us itch.

$104 for a tube?? Typo?

Oh Val - I'm all ABOUT convenience. I don't want to have to think or

waste time! So maybe I'll get some of the pump and some of the

tube! That's what makes it such a great country! Anyway, I see it

says 64 doses for $25. THat's a month's supply. Well I'm ordering!

The pump at 64 doses would be 1 pump (.75 mg) of estradiol a day. I use 1.5

mg. so the pump would last me for 32 days.

Hi ,

No, $104. was not a typo... hard to believe, unless Costco quoted me wrong.

THe ingredients of Oestrogel are estradiol, carbomer, trolamine, ethanol,

purified water. I haven't look up trolamine yet. Not sure what it is.

It says right on the package that you can take double the dose.

I'm telling you, this is amazing. But I need the P in another

form.

- you were taking 2-3mg (BID?????) No wonder you were

bleeding to death! That estrogel is a miracle. Now I know why Val

says they will have to pry it from her hands if they discontinue it!

When you can, go back on it at 1.5 a day. But use in 2 doses during

the day so you don't bleed. I'm finding it's doing the trick for me

at this dose.

I have been using the estrogel since Sept. and LOVE it. After about 6-

8 months on it though, I began to develop problems with the bleeding,

etc - even with proper amounts of P, and had to lower the dose. Let's

face it, E creates the endometrial lining. I don't think every woman

will have this reaction, but those of us who have had polyps, fibroids,

enndmetriosis, etc and it dried up or fibroids shrunk after menopause

are bound to have it all recur at some point with high E back in our

systems.

that's what i intend to do...after I get myself back into

menopause....I did go down to .75 twice a day with the estrogel and I

still had the bleeding

so we figure I need to get myself back into menopause first...the

doctor says then we can play with the dose so that I can have the

better energy and mental clarity that E confers. I like the Oestrogel

better than the estradiol cream from WIP and so that is what I will

use. and getting a script for it will still cost more than getting

it abroad even with my insurance copay. I usually get 6-12 at a time

because of the S & H charge.

You're welcome . I do very well on it. I tried progesterone suppositories every three months but developed some hyperplasia. I now use Prometrium for 10 days/month.

Oestrogel and only like, once a day!!

My sense, , is that you were using too much Estrogel. And maybe too much P. When I was on tri-est sublinguals and 200 mg oral compounded P, I bled constantly. Testing showed no estradiol and P = 26 (huge). I've been on Estrogel now for a little over two years.

No self-control here. The only thing over which I exercise control is my

Estrogel. I will throw my body over my stash to keep someone from taking

it. And I will die when I die, with my Estrogel tube grasped firmly in my

hand. Having been off hormones for a while, I've decided I want a good

quality of life and estrogen gives me that. I keep wondering why young

girls, with their loads of estrogen, are not dropping like flies with

cancer; and why young men, with their loads of testosterone, are not

dropping like flies with prostate cancer.

1.5 mg Estrogel, once a day, keeps the hot flashes at bay. That is an

adequate dose for bone preservation.

, did you have a transvaginal ultrasound to verify your hunch? Not that I don't think you are right...just curious.

I thought my uterus was very "alive" also, because I kept having to up my P to not have breakthrough bleeding. I finally allowed the period to come (at day 27)and the period is not bad at all, no excessive bleeding. The lower back ache goes away with either quite high P (can't do that now that I have done P for 14 days) or a little extra E - so go figure. And also to throw this into the info soup: low P (25-50mgP/day) made me angry and irritable, but high P (100mg BID)was better, although still impatient!

No, Madeleen, I haven't had an ultrasound or pelvic exam or pap test

since last Oct. All was well at that time...we figured we would wait

a year to do another one. I just reconigize how I feel now as how I

felt for the last 10 years or so before menopause, when my fibroids

were raging and I was hemhorraging and " all was well " then too - the

only thing that gave me relief back then was P cream 10%....I use

100mg P BID every day right now along with my bi-est capsules

(because they deliver less E than the gel) in order to try and get

back into menopause. I feel well on P...always have!!

LOL My self control lasts as long as it takes for me to get to the point of wanting to bite someone's head off and then it is "pounce on the E time". All self control goes out the window.

I have been reading Hertoghe's book - am impressed. He likes all the seven or eight hormones, pregnenolone, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, GH, melatonin, thyroid, calcitonin and more and says one or two of them are hardly ever enough for anyone he treats! He also says small doses are better, but use more of the different hormones! He really does like Growth Hormones!

He also has a great section on "testing, testing" and lab references! He likes to listen to all the symptoms thoroughly before testing and then he will do labs.

He cautions re labs, because they differ in lab references and they are usually based on people who are not well! He claims that lab references are not absolutes, just additional info to confirm what he has more or less already figured out from what the patients tell him!

Tri-est or bi-est in a cream form will not supply adequate systemic estrogen. I think much of "compounded hormones" is a scam. Here is a research study:Arch Gynecol Obstet. 1993;253(2):71-4.When applied to facial skin, does estrogen ointment have systemic effects?Kainz C, Gitsch G, Stani J, Breitenecker G, Binder M, Schmidt JB.2nd Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, University of Vienna, School of Medicine, Austria. We examined cytological vaginal smears of 17 women before and after three months of dermal estrogen (1 g of 0.01% estradiol ointment or 0.3% estriol ointment once daily), applied to the face for dermatological indications. The mean age was 57.1 +/- 7.6 years (range from 46 to 66). Seven women had estrogenic smears (more than 10% superficial cells) before therapy. Nine women were treated with 0.01% estradiol ointment and 8 were treated with 0.3% estriol ointment. Both groups had gynecological examinations including cervical and vaginal smears before and after treatment and also monthly measurements of serum follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin and estradiol levels. Serum hormone levels and the appearance of vaginal smears showed no significant change during treatment.Val-----Original Message-----From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ]On Behalf Of astrodianaI was using all that E while my doctor dragged his feet prescribing methe WP...I was a WP wannabe...but I did find that the estradiol is SOsuperior to bi-est or tri-est in it's effects!!

Well I have the fibroid problems, so I'm going to keep it at 1mg per

I guess I have to wait and see.

Yes -- I last went in October 2004 for a checkup after my D & C

and my gyno said not to go back for a year also. But that was

BEFORE I did all these things to myself with hormones.

Val - this study is about women who applied the cream facially.

Doesn't it matter where you apply the cream for it to be absorbed

properly?

Of course, my other thought is when I was using bi-est and I kept

upping the dose, it did NOTHING for me.

It does not enter the body systemically through a cream. I rub any extra on my hands/arms. It penetrates just the outer layers of skin but does nothing for hot flashes, vaginal atrophy, etc. Estriol or estradiol cream WILL absorb through mucus membranes (mouth, eyes, vagina).
