my stuff has different ingredients, Oestrogel....17 beta estradiol, cabomer, trolamine, ethanol, purified water........and to apply over large areas, arms, upper part of buttocks, lower abdomen, the lumbar region, upper theighs.NOT to breasts, or mucous membranes. Oh I figured out the stick isn't just for measuring, you apply with it too.....so you don't have to even touch it:)) It's like a little paddle,

With respect to measuring the oestrogel from the UK 0.527 of a teaspoon is equal to 2.5 grams. So my assumption is a rounded half of teaspoon should equate to one dose of 2.5 grams or 1.5mg. Just a thought.................Valarie wrote:

Here's some information on Estrogel:ESTROGEL® (estradiol gel) contains 0.06% estradiol in an absorptivehydroalcoholic gelbase formulated to provide a controlled release of theactive ingredient. The gel is applied over a large area (750 cm 2) of theskin in a thin layer. The recommended area of application is the arm, fromwrist to shoulder. An ESTROGEL unit dose of 1.25 g contains 0.75 mg ofestradiol. So on a gram scale, you could weigh 2.5 g and from that, figure the volume. There is a $50 coupon available at http://www.estrogel.comVal

If this was a serum level it seems low to me, I would think it should be around 90-120. How long after application did you test?

tested about 2 1/2 hours after .75 mg application. I apply .75 mg. BID.

Does 56 seem low with this kind of application?

:

No, I guess not too bad. I was thinking you had applied the whole 1.5 mg at one time.

I got a serum reading of 60 on a .5 mg patch once and I was not having any low E symptoms. On 1 mg oral E with a serum reading of 120 I had low E symptoms. The difference? I suspect it was SHBG was much, much higher on the oral than the transdermal and on the transdermal I was actually getting all 60 mg.

You cant always just go by numbers, if you feel well and have no symptoms then maybe you can get by on less. Madeleen, I think, is experimenting with much, lower doses of E and P.

,

I am doing the Oestrogel by itself right now 1.5mg/day while having my period, but I know I need to have more as soon as I am done with the period. 56 is too low for me- would like to aim for at least 100. I just feel irritable or impatient too easily with too little E. So perhaps 1.5mg Oestrogel twice a day would work? That is 3mg/day - yeah that could work (just thinking out loud here). Thanks Jen for sharing that info!

When I have "really good" days I get the gist that I'm not there a lot of the time. Still is taking a lot of energy to get through daily stuff so there's not enough left over the fun stuff. I'm also frustrating a bit now over how complicated all this gets. I'll get over it......I hear you Lynn!!!! It seems like getting to a good steady place is taking forever...or is it all an illusion? It takes at least a month to come down off of higher E and feel like

you're not exhausted all the time...that makes it hard to stop using

high E...remember, it's a great energizer, but give a kind of false

energy. I found that after my first period on lower E, I began to

get more energy each day...it's an adjustment period from what I have

seen...and if you go from very high E to very low (like Lynn did) the

fatigue levels can be debilitating...the best I have seen in various

women is to go down gradually in your E dose. We need to keep

remembering that the effect of ANY hormones (thyroid, cortisol, sex

homrones, etc)are not cause and effect (like a pain pill or aspirin

would be) from day to day, but take weeks or months sometimes to

stabilize at a new level and give us an idea if we are on the right

track. We all get very impatient, because WHO can take time out of

your life while your body adjusts to changes....but we must.

So , what do you think? You were using Del Norte's cream?

Which one? Their no-preservative cream? I doubt the cream gave you

195. Maybe it was the patch. What patch were you using?

I just started the estrogel a week ago and at first, I was very

energized. Today, I am DEAD. It could be that this NY humidity and

heat is getting to me but still. I don't think we should have to

take mega amounts of E to get that nice feeling. And to me, 3 mg a

day of E is mega.

What doesn't enter the body systemically? Cream rubbed onto the face?

Yes. Estriol cream is good on face wrinkles though. When I first started using it, I did an experiment by using it on only half my face/ear lobes for a couple of weeks. Then had DH and DD pick out the least worst side. They both picked the estriol cream side as best. I could see the difference.

I wonder if it's going in too quick??? Doesn't feel like it though. I

get this feeling aftr a couple of hours. I don't know what's up with

it.....maybe as it starts to go through the liver? Maybe try cutting

the P with more olive oil...like make a 50% dilution.

Think I'm going to do that and use far less. The E is so straight

forward. Add E = feel good. Add P = wierd stuff starts happening.
