Ages ago I read a book about it but can't remember enough specific details to enlighten you about it but here's a link to the book:The Second Brain : The Scientific Basis of Gut Instinct and a Groundbreaking New Understanding of Nervous Disorders of the Stomach and IntestinesCheersKateAccording to the Dialectical therapy work book, the wise mind resides within the stomach region. It is similar to that of intuition and the "gut" feeling you get when you have a strong feeling about something. According to research there is a vast web of nerves residing within the stomach region and is known as the enteric brain. Is anybody familiar with this notion and can someone share some experiences with it? I've noticed that when I feel extremely anxious or depressed I have a pain in my stomach region, perhaps because I am ignoring my gut feelings, and trying to surpress them?

You could also look at wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enteric_nervous_system

follow links to other explanations of various terminology.

I am not sure that I can exactly share my experiences with it, because one

theory that professionals have is that as I am unable to cope directly with my

feelings I have somatised them, thus I always have some form of pain there, and

the question is more how in touch with it I am at any one time. Certainly when I

am anxious or worrying about doing something it is there in spadeloads and I

cant ignore it, but I tend to deal with that by avoidance. Not a great coping

technique either.

good luck
