Seizures

I have wondered if I was really seeing seizures or just some kind of 'tic.'

It is a jerking movement here. This has gone on here for at least two or

three yrs., not all of the time, but occasionally. My husband is 71. I do not

notice hands being clasped. I am interested to read what others may have to

say about this subject. Arlene

My mother (89) has had LBD for about 8 years and has recently started having

seizures (short, hands clenched, eyes rolled back). Is this common.

Thanks,

Janel

Arlene: My husband had several seizures when taking Namenda. It is NOT a noted

side affect, but it certainly is for him. In fact, we took him off of Namenda

for several weeks and then put him back on and the seizures occurred again. He

just cannot take that drug.

One day (after Namenda was long gone from our medicinal regiment), the adult day

care center called me because Jerry was having TIA or seizure-like activity. I

did go out and pick him up, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary and did

not take him to the doctor. I do think the symptom, " transient/unexplained

unresponsiveness " says it all. What you might also be observing is the

myoclonic jerks which is another symptom on the list. While our LO's don't have

every symptom, sometimes we see a new one added which may come and go or stay a

while. This is not an easy disease. But then I guess you know that.

-My mam as these " seizures " exactly as you describe, the Drs inform me

they think it is Bradycardia which is causing these seizures.

Saying that I do not have a great deal of confidence in Mams Drs as 5

months ago I spoke to one of Mams Drs who did not know what a UTI was

..The same Dr spoke to me about an eeg that was to be done on my

Mam.The Dr had got this confused with a heart scan. I had then to

inform this same Dr it was in fact an ultrasound of her heart that was

needed to be done and now 5 months later she is still waiting for it.

Your Drs might like to bare in mind it could be problems with your

Mothers heart.

all the best

I looked up Seizures and Tramadol and yes, it appears that there can be a

connection...It can depend on other meds you are on and the dosages. Be careful

and let your Rheum know...

Seizures

I know I don't post much or at all. I'm so sorry. I tend to lurk. I do think

of all of you though and keep you in my thoughts.

Anyways, has anyone else experienced seizures? I had a tonic-clonic seizure

on Sunday and was rushed to the hospital.

Wow man that's got to be scary for you and every one. never had that happen to

me . closest I could say I have done is blacking out for a second or two and

having the floor come up fast to meet me . let me tell ya it hurts and if there

is an sharp corner around I found it then. so far have not done that in months

so think it was all to do with my blood disorder and the blood being so thick I

was having trouble with it flowing when I sat up or things like that .

but man you take care and let your doc know about it even the little ones so

they can look into it and hopefully find out why and fix it for ya.

my best to ya .

Thank you all for the responses, guys and gals. It really makes me feel less

alone in the world.

Francesca: In terms of your 'quiver' it may very well have been a partial

seizure and those only affect certain parts of your body and you're usually

conscious throughout it. I don't mean to worry you by any means! But if

they're still there and you haven't mentioned them, I would.

I'm off the Tramadol for now. The Doc at the ER gave me 4 oxy's and 4 valium

to help me. I go to the pain clinic on Monday and will keep y'all updated on

that.

Again, thanks :)
