Guest guest Posted October 2, 2006 Report Share Posted October 2, 2006 , we have experienced the situation of a Neurologist versus a Geriatric/Psychiatrist, and it made all the difference in the world to go to the latter. The term Psychiatrist throws some people off. They think of Psychiatrist as someone who treats crazy people, and they will claim they are not crazy. So, I would suggest just the term Geriatric Doctor, that can better help the loved one. After they know the doctor and feel very comfortable with him/her then let them know the full title.
