Also I'm really sick of perfectly healthy people telling me they " know how I

feel " because they've occasionally had " bouts of arthritis. " My pain isn't

their pain. I know they're only trying to sympathize with me but it always

makes me feel like they're belittling my pain and Still's as a whole. The

worst thing is hearing " But you don't LOOK sick " it always makes me want to

break down and cry.

Hey ,

First can I say don't every feel badly about when or when you don't post to the

group? That is not a judgment that is made here. We just hope if you're not

posting it is because you're feeling better than unwell.

Next, I totally understand your quandary about whether or not you want to ask

your doctor about your pain but we have a disease that can affect many areas of

the body and we are not doctors. It's better to be diagnosed with or without

something than not. As I got older it was much easier for me to do this because

I cared less about what people thought of me and more of what might be better

for my own good.

And yeah for you and your grades! That is so cool that you are doing so good.

I'm glad things are getting better for you.

Lastly, I was 19 at my onset and for years got the same thing from people about

my illness. I started saying, " Can you always tell people are dying from

cancer? " And I started telling people, imagine children live with this disease

when they would see how bad I was and feel sorry for me because I couldn't stand

that either. We have to be tough and at some point just know that you can do

what you did and vent here because the world at large can never really

understand.

Hang in there buddy,

Hey ,

Thank you for the response :). Next time I see my Rheumy I'll let him know

what's up with me. Especially seeing as how the pain has been more-or-less

constant. Hope you're doing well.

Dear ,

Chest pains are not something to mess around with. Go to your doctor

IMMEDIATELY and have him/her run an EKG to check your heart. Heart attacks feel

much as you described in SOME people. Having said that, the fact that the pain

gets worse when you think about it makes it sound like perhaps you might be

having panic attacks.

However, given your psychiatric history, you could be having panic attacks.

Panic attacks look and feel like REAL heart attacks, they just aren't. If you

go in to your doc about this, he/she can alter your meds to help lessen the

symptoms. Look, with this disease, there is always something to worry about.

One day it's a rash (is it Stills or skin cancer?) or a fever (is it Stills or

an infection), etc. The ONLY way to quiet these internal fears (and maybe the

panic attacks) is to go to your doctor and have the pains checked out. If it IS

a heart attack, the next one could even kill you. Many heart ailments are very

treatable. But you don't want whatever this is to go on any longer because if

it is a heart attack, with each episode, you get more damage to your heart. And

if it's just a panic attack, then your doc can alter your meds and get you some

therapy to work through them.

Please go see your doc and get this chest pain assessed completely ASAP. The

truth is really less scary than what you're imagining.

Thanks, . I'm seeing my Rheumy somewhat soon and I'll ask them. I

haven't felt any pain in a few days; I think it flared up due to stress and

anxiety. But yeah, it's something serious.

I'm hoping it's nothing serious but I guess if it is I should know about it

ASAP.

Good news on the school thing. Here the wife and I have decided that afer a bit

over a year of looking for work after she got her BSW she is going to go back

and get her MSW now . part of that call to do this came in a letter excepting

her into the prrogram even after they had cut it badly and other changes . she

knew many that have been trying for a few years to get in and still have not and

she did on her first try so as your finding out in collage ya just never know .

My son is also now holding a A / B avrage and he dropped out of High school

after the devorce of his mom and I and even before that he was lucky to get C

and d's because of a learning disability and low he is all gung hoo and getting

good grades.

now as for people not beliveing your ill well come to the real world LOL. I

have gotten so mad at time as I have had a few to many docs tell me the same

thing as yours. Hmmm I wonder if that is part of the reson there now my ex docs

..Yup it sure is! Just hang in there and fight for what you know is right and

going on . keep a log every day how your feeling temps ext take it with you show

the doc and let him / her know it helpped me finaly get some help maybe it will

help you also.  tell then just keep at them remind them of your illness and what

they have treated you for and with so far or what you got help from them with

say a year ago things like that as most Docs are only reading the last few pages

of your chart and not going way back so remind them of the past as it can jog

there memory and that can help teach them that your not a faker but that its the

real deal

best to ya

- if you are having any kind of tightness in your chest you should go to

the Emergency. Sounds like something

in your system isn't too balanced. You're not a whiner. Your body is telling

you something and it should be checked out.

Subject: Horrible chest pains.

I'm sorry I'm posting this without regularly participating in the group. I

feel as though I'm just using this group for selfish reasons :( I do want

preface this email by saying that I have been reading all the threads and

wish/pray y'all are better; I just never know what to say when I read the,/

Anyways. One of the medications I've been on is Zyprexa. It's a med for

treating my severe bipolar disorder (coincidentally it's for schizophrenia

as well but I'm never had full blown Schizo problems). The biggest thing it

does, which is a secondary part I'm on it, is so that I can gain weight. So

far it's been working wonderfully. I went from 130lbs to 150lbs through the

course of half a year (I'm 6' tall and was usually 120lbs-130lbs) . And I

plan on doing low and relaxed physical therapy and working on low impact

workouts in the gym.

But I got my blood tests back and my Cholesterol is at 208. Triglycerides

are at 234, andLDL is slightly elevated to 111. And I'm only 20 D=

I don't know what the last two are but they can't be good.

For the past month now I'm been experiencing weird and painful pains on my

left side for the past 2-3 months; especially if I do a lot that day. I'm

almost afraid to go see a Doctor. Half of it is him saying it's something

bad and the other half is him saying nothing is wrong with me (this

especially makes me feel like just a whiny liar to get attention =\)

Do y'all think I should bring it up or go the hospital and get an EKG test?

I start to worry when I'm trying to sleep and *bam* the chest hurts really

badly.

Thanks everyone. Other than this I've been doing wonderfully at school. I'm

currently holding an A in Computer Science although with the last assignment

it'll drop to a B :s and in Psych I'm holding on to a B+ and I feel ready

for Friday's exam so I think I'll get to an A- and the lease. I'm so used to

giving C's and D's form highschool and Freshman year at college. This is new

territory for me; studying and not just cramming right before an exam, lol.

Sorry if I'm rambling some tramadol and some xanax so I'm feeling a bit

loopy, lol.
