Jeni,

There is something called Legal Aide. When you are in the Hospital,

if you ask to call them they CAN NOT refuse you. It is illegal. They

can help you defend your rights. You HAVE the right to refuse

medication. Period. I was in the hopsital as a teenager as well.

Feeling like you have no help in there would be horrible. I was

pretty lucky, most of the people working with me were awesome. But

not all, so I can understand. Please remember about Legal Aid. Oh,

and its free.

Also, I would not listen to any diagnosis given to you until you

have withdrawn from these drugs and been off them for many months. I

have been off Paxil/Lexapro for 2 months and my symptoms are still

severe. They keep wanting to give me a bipolar diagnosis but it is

not true - it is the withdrawal. I never ever heard mention of

bipolar until I started coming off the SSRI's.

I would be careful. Let your body and mind heal - despite what they

say. Then make an assessment as to what problems you may have.

Good Luck,

nyia

Thanks for the info, ill check it out. As far as Id heard if you re

sectionned (which i would be...not voluntary) then you have a month

there, then you have the right to appeal against it. 1 or 2 of the

35 people working in my hospital physically abused me before. I

cannot get into a different hospital. Hence why im soooo worried.

Chances are i wouldnt see them again, but its the only hospital like

it in the country (UK) as far as layout. I would be the only one

there. and die of boredom!

Oh and funny about people mentioning bipolar being a diagnossi they

give to everyone. My new psych (ive been shifted around) immediately

took it off of me when i got to him, and right now i have no

diagnoses'. He said he wouldnt diagnose me as that till i was at

least 21, and right now it was just called 'very bad mood swings'.

lol.

thanks so much for the help and the welcome here,

Jeni,

I didn't realize you were in the UK. I don't know about the legal

system there. But there has to be some type of legal protection for

those in the hopsital, even involuntarily. I don't know how to find

out though.

Good luck and stay strong,
