Answering service vs other options Re: schmaltz

First, I'll echo others' sentiments that I am totally I indebted to

those on this listserve (particularly my local Rochester IMPers and

the IMP mentors) for giving me the guts to go out and do this thing (5

months now!) -- very very busy with very very steep learning curve,

but more rewarding than anything I've ever done in medicine.

Now the other part of this thread in response to 's comment

questioning the value of an answering service -- I am so happy I

decided to never sign up with an answering service. My toll free

digital Onebox number (phone and fax) had made it easy for patients to

contact me -- leaving messages for non-urgent things and being

connected directly with my cell or land-line for urgent issues (via

the priority code). The transciption of voicemail to text feature is

also worth its weight in gold, though the delay in receiving the text

message lately is annoying (it's emailed immediately, but ATT is

apparently delaying all 3rd party texts to the iPhone, they're working

on it). Can't remember what I'm paying for it exactly , but worth it

(especially in light on the recent faxing conversations!). BTW have no

financial interest in the company, just wanted to share my phone/fax/

message system.

Hope all had a happy thanksgiving! We're just driving back from a day

of wine-tasting in the Finger Lakes with my parents, who are up

visiting for thanksgiving. Much fun :-)

Take care,

-
