Guest guest
Janet and I were talking for awhile about the trance you get into when you are taking labels and signs literally and personally meant for you. Or messages from the TV and radio. This is called by the psychs as 'delusions of reference'. I have tried to control this consciously in the past, but it usually led to brain exhaustion and confusion. However, there is a Trance Institute in which the director, Dennis Weir, believes that you can get off drugs and learn how to terminate the sz. trances we get into. He explains some instances in which people who learned his methods were successful in eliminating sz symptoms: http://www.trance.edu/schoid.htm I feel very confident and others here will find this theory deserving of further exploration. IMO, it has a lot of potential and could be just another tool in our recovery tool box. Hugs and Happy New Year to all, Melody

Look around on his site, there is much more than that one page I posted. I might have to buy Dennis Wier's book, I'm not sure, but I'm concerned it may be out of date. I remember it being kind of hard for me to understand about trance " loops. " Dennis used to email me several years ago about sz. I notice on his site that he experimented in inducing a sz trance in himself that included hearing and seeing things, and then he 'terminated the trance'. I don't know how he did it. I forgot to tell him about the self referential delusions with the messages from signs, bottles, radio, TV, etc. He didn't include that in his trance experiments on himself, as far as I know. I've only lately been able to articulate it better, so I think I'd better try to email him and talk to him about it all again. If I can ever figure out how to put his methods in easy-to-understand language, you will be the first to know. Hugs, Melody
