Granulated kelp can be used to nourish lawn or garden soil. Pastured critters

can be offered free choice kelp, they leave their by-products all over the

pasture and then harrow the fields occasionally to spread that all around. The

by-product left in shelters or corrals gets picked up and composted for use on

the garden. Feeding a bit of food grade DE substantially helps eliminate flies

around the by-products and the compost pile - in addition to providing some

minerals to the animals and killing parasites it encounters in the digestive

tract. Though DE cannot be counted on as a complete wormer ... the maddening

little parasite called onchocerca is just one that DE will not have any effect

on as it resides in places most of us wouldn't think of. Wreaks all kinds of

havoc with horses though most do not make the connection between symptoms and

cause.
