When i was told if i didnt go on efexor (after it

was 'banned' in my age group) i would be marked down as 'resisting

treatment' and offered no further help i decided to try it

OMG! Jeni, the "help" you are getting isn't helping you. I know you see that. Were you bi-polar BEFORE or AFTER they started drugging you???? Where are your parents? Why are they letting the authorities bully you into taking all these drugs??

Hi Jeni,

Welcome. What is your major problem, depression or mania?

I had to go off Depakote cold turkey (which is a mood stabilizer

like Tegretol) because I had drug-induced hepatitis. After 10 years

of being on it, it finally harmed my liver and pancreas.

When I was on the Depakote, I often had bad periods of depression,

but I thought that was just my bipolar. Surprise, when off Depakote

I'm never depressed, but very hypomanic.

They tried me on lithium and dr. was negligent in not knowing I was

on a water pill - I had a terrible interaction which sent me into a

continuous rage.

I'm struggling still, am hooked on 200 mg Seroquel to sleep. But am

managing without a daytime mood stabilizer for the time being.

Best of luck, stick around here and you will get educated.

Hugs,

Melody

Dear Jeni,

** You're 16 years old, hon, not bipolar. This is a label given to

anyone today whose moods fluctuate. You're suicidal because your chemistry

has been yanked from here to hell and back again.

What led to you taking the first psychotropic drug?

What's your diet like? What's it been like all your life? Do you take

high quality vitamins?

As far as withdrawing from Tegretol, it should be done slowly - more

slowly than most doctors do this.

Disorientation, insomnia, anxiety, mania, depression, flu-like syndrome,

fatigue are all symptoms of Tegretol withdrawal. There can be other

symptoms as well.

Regards,

Hi Jeni, do you have epilepsy? While a little girl, my daughter was

diagnosed with seizures and put on tegretol... it took them 6 monthes

to build her up to level for her weight and with no visible signs of

any help, I insisted they when her off and it took us 6 months to get

her off.. they reduced very slowly and she never had any problems...

I do know you have to go off very slowly.... hugs
