Guest guest
Best to wear compression hose while flying - that can blow up the most reilient ankles - wear pressure hose until they are normal & train them that way - that works for me. A little rebounding might help, exercise to help the venous return - rotating ankles, standing in the kitchen or wherever and raising on to the toes & gently squatting a little while you work all encourages the venous return. (Exercise bike) Sitting at your desk & taking the heel off the ground as high as you can - all these little movements stop potential stasis. Guest guest
Thanks Jayne, I think you could be onto something, although I have not had the edema before and my diet is the same, I must have changed something. I have started taking high dose MSM for my hip, and that may have mobilized toxins, it gave me a bad headache the first few days because I was taking 5 T a day, then 3 T and lowered to 4t after a couple days of severe headaches. But I had to get the inflammation down in my hip to be able to work, it was really bothering me. I also took high doses of Glucosamine HCl and Chondroiton Sulfate, for a few weeks. I am now off all supps for a week or two, but the edema is persisting. I did start taking a low dose of Spanish Needles and a Lymph Tonic. Spanish Needles, Bidens bipannita, is a kidney tonic, diuretic and antiallergen. I seem to digest well, but I do think it could be improved and with all the B's and other supps that I try to maintain most of the time I should do whatever I can to make them more effective. I suspect the chronic inflammation from my hip has led to the ankle edema, along with the flying, lots of driving and just not sleeping regularly on a good consistent schedule. Living too fast . . . Thanks to everyone who has suggested ideas to me. I appreciate them all and will work on this over the next week or so. I want to do another liver cleanse and a kidney cleanse as well. The liver cleanse I did in December definitely helped my shoulder pain but I am still struggling with weight, so the HCl and pepsin is resonating as well as the further liver cleansing, which I know I need to do once a month until I get all of the stones out. Re: Ankle Edema Posted by: " jaynelcrocker " jaynelcrocker@... jaynecrocker64 Date: Fri May 13, 2011 8:51 am ((PDT)) Janet, I could well be due to you not absorbing protein and suffer from Hypochlorydria. I had the same problem when I was in hospital and that was with my legs up on the bed. However my diet has always been high in protein which led to my partner researching and finding Betaine HCL with pepsin which aids the digestion of protein, fats, carbs and starches. Remember, you can't absorb what you can't digest. Having taken this supplement prior to my meals and a digestive enzyme with my meal I no longer have this really uncomfortable swelling around the ankles. I have been bedridden these last couple of months and I got 'lazy' with my supplements and went a week without taking them. The result? Back to very swollen feet/ankles so I've immediately went and got a pill box for a week to put all my supplements in for 7 days and 3 days later - no swelling around the ankles/feet. One of the most deleterious results of hypochlorhydria is our inability to assimilate B complex vitamins. (Vitamins serve as coenzymes. A deficiency of vitamins, especially B vitamins, means that many enzymes cannot and will not work. Enzymes are required for every bodily function necessary to keep us alive. [5]) Hypothyroidism: To function properly the thyroid needs sufficient B vitamins especially B2, B3 and B6, and minerals -- especially iodine, zinc, selenium, magnesium, copper and molybdenum, essential fatty acids and the amino acid Tyrosine. [6] Because my diet and supplements contain all that's needed to maintain a healthy blood sugar and thyroid (after a year on betaine 1101 with pepsin and enterically coated pancreatic enzymes), I no longer feel hypoglycemic and I no longer need thyroid medication. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_2001_Oct/ai_78900837/?tag=con tent%3Bcol1 Please read this link http://www.charlespoliquin.com/ArticlesMultimedia/Articles/Article/27/Maximi ze_Your_Progress_with_Hydrochloric_Acid.aspx However, you do have to find the right dose for you. I now use Drs Best Betaine HCL with pepsin and Gentian bitters http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctors-Best-Betaine-Gentian-Bitters/dp/B000NRTXGW I have been taking these since October and as a result of being able to absorb and digest my food, I have lost 20lbs as a result. You may also find you are not actually absorbing what supplements you are taking either. Once you correct your stomach acid, you may find you won't need to take as many supplements. This is also likely due to low stomach acid where one can get so many ailments from. Guest guest
Asparagus? Kewl!! I love the stuff and it is in season, it does make me pee so must be a diuretic. Prolly should eat more watermelon too. Thanks for the excuse to indulge my love for Asparagus in any form. My BF just gave me a jar of pickled A. and I could eat roasted or grilled A. anytime of the day. My ankles are improving with the Lymphatonic and eating more fruit for the potassium, also drinking more water and my kefir water. Thanks to all and to Jane for the exercise ideas, I do sit at the computer a lot. Supp hose are something I should do while standing at work so will have to look for those today while out shopping. Garnet Re: Ankle Edema Posted by: " bryanfm79925 " bryanfm79925@... bryanfm79925 Date: Wed May 18, 2011 6:52 am ((PDT)) Janet, This is what we used to treat my dad's edema. Asparagus. That's it. He would eat a few ounces (6-8) every day. When he skipped a couple of days, the edema would start to return. My sister, who is an RN, got the information when she was a traveling nurse in Tennessee. I really works. Now, mix up how you eat it, they do not have to be raw every time you eat them. Good Luck,
Guest guest
I eat Real Salt -- what is your opinion of that. It is pink so I assume it has a good amount of Iodine in it? I am not doing anything for Thyroid at all but when tested ten years ago he said if anything I am a bit hyper, although weight gain has been a real problem for the past three years. Course chocolate and brie don't help!<grin> Coffee enemas is something I need to make more time for. I do them a few times a year. Liver cleanse is on the list for next week too. Thanks and good to see you on the list Linsey! Garnet Ankle Edema Posted by: " Biochemist " vitamail@... linsey313 Date: Tue May 17, 2011 8:13 am ((PDT)) Hello Garnet, I have had that myself as also several of my clients....I would not back off the iodine at all, but would increase the salt and also add coffee enemas several times a day too....that can help wonders.
