Guest guest
Dear Joyce, Several months ago you mentioned you took cayenne and turmeric powder to alleviate your crippling arthritis. My husband has rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. What kind of arthritis do/did you and your husband have? Can you share what brands of cayenne tincture and turmeric powder you used and where you bought it? We definitely are going to try this. Thanks for sharing, Ann Original message: Making Turmeric extract with DMSO Posted by: " Joyce M. Simmerman " nativelegal@... natvlegl Date: Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:52 pm ((PST)) Why black pepper as opposed to Cayenne to be accompanying tumeric/DMSO? I take anywhere from 1 to 5-6 doses of cayenne straight down the gullet every day, (about 1/3-1/2 tsp. per dose), all depending on how I feel. I've always heard that cayenne was better than black pepper for heart and blood pressure normalization. Some days I follow the cayenne with tumeric powder (1/3 tsp. approx.) down the throat. Both the cayenne or tumeric are followed right away with water for a chaser. I seldom take DMSO internally because I feel it might be a tad rough on the stomach. I use it in many ways quite often externally though as does my husband. Our arthritis etc. is almost non-existent now, where it was extremely crippling for both of us about 10 years ago. Cheers, Joyce Simmerman
Guest guest
Ann - why a " brand " . You can buy both in bulk. I put them both in my Budwig muesli. Both are fat/oil-soluble. Guest guest
@ Ann Thomspon, I guess it has already been answered re. " brand " for the cayenne and/or tumeric is not necessary. I buy mine from bulk at our local store at Winnetoon, NE. It is not a health food store, per se, but she always has the organic bulk items, (or as close as 1 can reasonably come) I think the town is about 35-50 people population, but it IS the " world's only Winnetoon " .. a quaint partially restored pioneer town with some very pleasant gardens and antique sales. Anyway .... to the health concerns.: Dave & I both had degenerative arthritis. He had had 4 serious back surgeries .. the first 3 before we REALLY got serious with trying the alternatives to meds, i.e., natural way, his 3rd neurosurgeon almost contemptuously I thought told him that there was nothing more he could do for him, to basically go home and resign himself to the wheelchair with pain meds etc. I also had terrible arthritic pains with the double-S scoliosis especially had been bothering after my last bout with shingles, (the 2nd in my life). I also have Sjogren's Syndrome where the arthritis is part and parcel of it along with the dry skin/mucus system, dry-eyes. My sister and I have compared notes on the arthritis and accompanying symptoms of Sjogrens' and her diagnoses of rheumatoid arthritis and/or sometimes psoriatic arthritis .. and we wonder .. if " they " know how to differentiate .. or what? At any rate as I've mentioned many times, ... its been the shotgun approach to better health including the arthritis. DMSO is still one of my very favorites ... best med going to get stuck on a desert isle with if I could only have 1 (I might change that for kefir now but that would almost require a source of milk ..or maybe coconuts & herbs?) Anyway .. The cayenne and tumeric is multi-purpose also. I also attribute help for almost eliminating our arthritis to vinegar water and honey drank regularly (1 tsp ea in glass water) ... can wash the cayenne down with that! We've also supplemented our diet with the " mixed greens " of dried parsley, chives, spinach and dill weed (not seed). That goes in and on about everything but desserts. The dried greens are easier to digest than the rough greens and at first I could NOT do fresh veggies of hardly any kind due to IBS and GERD, etc. but now have an almost iron gut! The microflora have covered it!! I hope that has answered your questions. Oh, as to where to buy the cayenne and tumeric .. bulk from health food stores or online is the best. The spice aisle is next as more expensive and may or may not be as " organic " as health food store is likely to be. That IS important in these days so you want sources you can know and trust if possible. Best wishes, Joyce Simmerman
Guest guest
I resolve 1 teaspoon in 3 tablespoons of flax oil (per 100 grams of quark). This is my maintenance doasage. Guest guest
Thanks, Joyce and everyone else who responded. I originally thought that you were taking cayenne tincture, but now realize it is powder. That's amazing that you can take the cayenne powder straight in your mouth and then just chase it with water. As far as the turmeric powder, would it be better to just take the curcumin powder, since that is the most important and active ingredient (anti-inflammatory) in turmeric? Thanks again, Ann *************************** 1a. Re: cayenne and turmeric for arthritis Posted by: " Joyce M.
