From Drain,

All the suggestions given you are good: document, follow up, get releases from patients, try to find lowest cost alternatives that fit the needs of the patients. And while you do that, remember that the first six months of a new practice is full of these kinds of people. In some cases, they are trying you because they did not like the answer they got from some other doctor.

The first fifty calls I got when I started my practice included 35 chronic pain patients, who were hoping I was a multiple chronic pain med prescribe. I got calls from men and women who drive up and down I-5 stopping at no-tell motels to see compliant physicians for their monthly meds hoping I would be an extra stop for them. I got calls from dealers and their subsidiaries. It gave me a strange idea of the community I had moved to, but in time it all straightened out, and I was able to make obscure diagnoses for some of the early cases, and cured them too. People have chronic disease for reasons.

The guy from England with the lymphoma should indeed go back home and let them treat him....the cost would be paltry compared to here and they do a very good job there.

Sounds like you will be a boon to your community.
