Guest guest
Hi Roslyn, welcome, you sure need a good plan to get off the wellbutrin, now that you are pregnant again, it is vital... you will learn alot here and hopefully many here can tell you how they have been helped by getting off the drugs. By the way, when you stop taking it, you are going into withdrawal, of course you feel worse... did your doctor not tell you this? My husband started his 3 1/2 year hell with wellbutrin... I wish I had found and this group at his beginning and he would not have gone through what he has... my best regards to you and welcome... hugs <trisigma337@y...> wrote: > hello. Guest guest
Hi , what exactly was your husbands experience with Wellbutrin. I have read so many stories the past few days about negative effects and it is scaring me. I have been taking the wellbutrin since the beginning of my pregnancy becasue both my psyc and OB said that it would be fine to continue becaue it is a class B. I am now almost 5 months pregnante. I am becoming more worried every second because of the horror stories I have read. I know each case is different, but hearing what he experinced would be a welcomed story, any info about this drugs effects may help me notice anything funny in my baby when he or she is born. How did he ween off? I am currently taking 300 mg of xl and I do have some 200mg and 100mg of SR left over. I have not taken anything today or yesterday, and I do feel ok, but i know by tonight I will probably be really stressed. I went through paxil withdrawl a few yrs ago for my anxirty (which was hell) and my symptoms never returned during that just other withdrawl stuff, and it was over after quitting cold turkey in 2 weeks. This was a time when peole were just figuring out that paxil withdrawl existed. I have not spoken to my psychiatrist, one because I know that she will deny the problem, and two because she is crazier than she thinks I am. She thinks I am other paitents and even after I tell her who I am she turns in someone elses paper to the receptionist to check me out. She never remembers my story and I have to reminder what I do and what my situation is every time, our first meeting was 15 min and she gave me 3 drugs wellbutrin, paxil cr,and trazadone, and told me to start taking them right away even though I had been on lexapro from my ob for a few weeks alredy, and she told me that I could keep taking the lexapro until I finished the bottle along with the other drugs if I wanted. Thank goodness I did not!!! Plus I am sure you might know that paxil and trazadone are less than a perfect match and can kill you, so I only took the trazadone for 2 days after doing internet research and talking to a pharmasist I quit. But all those medicines at once I would have surly been a victim of serotonin syndrom. Sorry to ramble I get so upset when I think that she just drugs paitents up. When I told her what the pharmasist told me she said he was wrong and the trazadone was only to help me sleep. Yeah I am sure it was, but that does not mean the mix is bad. I got the original hint to do research from the med insert from the pharmacy that she told me to not read and throw away or i would develop side effects!!!!! ANyways I will go please share your story with me. If you rather e mail it my e mail is Trisigma337@... Roslyn
Guest guest
Hello Roslyn, Welcome to the list. You will find a wealth of information and support here. You are in a difficult situation right now, with your pregnancy and Wellbutrin addiction. This requires some expert advice, and I am no expert. I do have a few comments, however. First, you said that the wellbutrin has worked wonders for you and within two days of stopping it, you feel lousy again. I must emphasize to you that feeling lousy after stopping any of these drugs is not because of any " condition " you might have. It is withdrawal. All of these drugs have a nasty withdrawal syndrome which includes many symptoms of so-called mental illness. This helps the pharmaceutical companies maintain their customer base. I am so sorry that not one but two doctors have put you in this position during pregnancy. I can totally understand your growing concern about the baby. However, none of us can change the fact that your baby has been exposed to this drug for five months now. Please try to save your energy. Instead of worrying about what may already have happened, focus instead on what you can do now. You and the baby will both benefit if you turn your mind away from stressful thoughts and focus instead on the positive things you can do right now. The very best thing I could do if I were in your position would be to provide good nutrition. This would support my body and the baby's. Remember, brain chemistry is part of the body's chemistry, so good nutrition affects the whole organism positively. I would eat lots and lots of fresh vegetables, eat an ample amount of protein (meat, cheese, eggs) and drink lots of spring water. I would avoid sugar, white flour, soda, artificial sweeteners, and all packaged foods. I would also consider supplementation with a high-quality multi-vitamin and mineral formula, and I would take fish oil. I would definitely not take kava-kava if I were in your position. Enough is enough, and herbs must be used with knowledge and caution. While they can be powerful healing tools, herbs are not safe just because they are natural. They must be respected. I am sure that you will receive a great deal of help and support from this group. has extensive experience in withdrawal and recovery and her thoughts will be of great value. I want to applaud your growing awareness about these drugs and the efforts you have put into research so far. You are making a great investment in the future for both yourself and your family.
