I have lost the

ability to organize. Anyone else do this?

In another life I was a producer, super organized, everything filed and in notebooks. After Paxil, I lost all my executive functioning skills, so I, too, have sh*tloads of paperwork everywhere, especially the research from having written a book. But yesterday, when I couldn't stand it anymore, I decided that I would spend just FIVE MINUTES throwing stuff out. No big pressure, five minutes! But there I was an hour later, still sorting things out. And enjoying it! It's not cuz I'm hypomanic, it's because the sheer task is too overwhelming if I think about the BIG PICTURE so if I break things down into 5 minute increments, well, I can do almost anything and by the end of the five minutes, I'm into it! LOL

Melody, you may think this is nuts, but Bob has so much trouble with

the same thing.... I suggested that during the commercials on TV that

he get one tiny thing done.... as simple as take out his vacumn

cleaner, next commercial, clean some of the floor... and so on.... it

seems to help him to do baby steps rather than some mega,

overpowering job...... think about how children have to do things...

when their room gets so cluttered, so messed, it is impossible to

begin at any one point... it is much easier to set your sights on a

tiny job, get it done and then move on to the next.... best to you

That's a really good idea, Glitter! Thanks! If I could

manage to tackle some of the piles, it sure wouldn't

be because I'm hypomanic because that is when my

concentration is shot to h*ll.

I find that scrubbing the floors and bathtubs, etc, is

good to do when hypomanic (I'm not in good enough

shape to go out and run 10 times around the block

without getting a sports injury - LOL).
