Dear Sally,

You said:

<<Hello - can I just check something. I know you often talk about

various supplements here and say that some are useful while you are

taking SSRI's but others should be left until later.

What is the case with fish oils - is it a good idea to start these

while still on the SSRI?>>

** Fish oil can be taken anytime by most people. As far as supplements

while taking SSRIs, I am completely in favor of people taking a high quality

full spectrum vitamin formula as well as major and trace minerals while

taking psychotropic drugs (and any other time).

There are a couple of brands that seem to serve people well. Those who

are more sensitive would just take lower doses for a time. These are:

-- SupraLife Total, or UltraBody, Toddy along with their trace mineral

formula which is called Mineral Toddy.

--OR--

-- Living Multi Female Formula

-- Living Multi Men's Formula

There is also an iron-free formula:

Overall, I've found that full spectrum products are tolerated much

better than isolated nutrients. Many people who have had difficulty with B

vitamins on their own can take these combination formulas with no problems.

More unpredictable for people are herbs. Though there are some that are

well-indicated at certain times, this must be assessed. This holds true

for flower essences, too. Some pharmaceutical drugs are contraindicated

with certain herbs so this needs to be considered as well.

Well tolerated in most cases, whether on or off psychotropic drugs, are

homeopathic remedies.

Regards,
