Guest guest
But the pdoc insists it's a mood stabilizer, too. More like a chemical straitjacket. Is the risk of TD worth it though?? There must be less dangerous prescription sleep aids for the interim -- only the old ones come to mind -- Dalmane, for one. Guest guest
Try some of the other anti-hitamines. there are a handful on the market and pretty dirt cheap. what the hey? maybe can suggest something. I just have allergies and the benedryl does nothing for my allergies but sure knocks me out most of the time. whatever. janet

But that's what I'm here to find out (how to get off Seroquel). However, perhaps the Seroquel is also keeping the psychosis away. So that is awfully scary to discontinue it. Are you psychotic? I didn't know that. Did you mention that before? When you mentioned it being used as a mood stabilizer, it dawned on me that it obviously wasn't working given the amount of distress you've been in and the kind of murderous rages you say you are experiencing. I've also heard from other users that Seroquel actually causes these mood swings. I swear, the more I learn the more I'm convinced that the cure is worse than the illness. Guest guest
that seroquel gave me my first taste of diabetes. Alas, this IS one of the worst side effects of these new atypical antipsychotics, which aren't atypical at all given that they cause all the same bad things that the regular chem straitjackets do. And to give this drug out as a sleep aid is simply unconscienable in my book, but then psychiatry gets nothing but scorn from me for their pseudo-junk-science b.s. Guest guest
Glitter; as usual you have said it well. the cure if that is what you want to call these wretched things like seroquel, is much worse than the recovery once one starts to get the hang of it. I've had my very down times even this week when all seemed lost except for my cats, nothing, that sort of thing. BUT it has been a wonderful adventure overall. I guess i don't have all that much to lose but house, car and cats. and a bit of cash in the bank. Everything else is gone. So it'snearly all uphill for me. Maybe i'm lucky in that way. Melody, i've been hemming and hawing over this for days whether to mention it to you or not and i hope i am doing the right thing. The thing that touched off my tirade no one remembers on schizoph and my determination finally to get rid of the drugs was that seroquel gave me my first taste of diabetes. I WAS NOT going to have diabetes if it even meant the back ward of the state hospital. Can you at least get that drug changed. I don't know i have a hunch the old stuff like haldol is bettter actually esp in the short run than the wonder new drugs. the new ones were absolutely one hell after another on me. perhaps it's different for you. When exactly did you come down with diabetes? janet
Guest guest
Hi Glitter; I can't hate hem though. I really truly do believe they are the whore of babylon and things will be taken care of, the sooner the better. pretty hard to stomach in this world of disbelief but then i'm mad as a hatter anyway. janet
