Guest guest
IMHO and hundreds of pounds produced I have formed some opinions (don't kill me lol) CP produces the hardest .most finely textured bars, good soap takes time!!!! some of my accounts will not even consider stocking HP soap.because the hardness and lasting not to mention shrinkage etc..(labels falling off etc) I Feel that a superior high olive oil (castile soap type) only improves with age.Try your batch in a year it will be a whole different animal. I think you need to increase your Coconut oil to about half of the olive value. Satisfactory soap can be made from equal portions of Coconut , Palm and Olive, in fact I know several soap lines that use this as there mother formula. I say keep it simple .small batches with just a few oils and detailed notes ..The fomula notebook is worth gold!! I think that is one of the things I miss the most from my house fire in june of 02.. PLAY with soap recipes small batches different superfats etc..different ratios of cocoanut oil etc Know what the " basics " feel like before you start adding waxes and butters and luxury oils at superfat trace. Fine CP is like fine cheese.Takes time.. ( my shampoo bars are 4 months from bucket to store shelf) AND yes young hi olive oil soap is " slimey " .Other people descibe it differently tho. But if it ages wow you have your self a really nice soap. Sal In Alaska (ducking ... from flying soap bars)
