FMS has about 50 different possible causes. Its good to try eliminating things that you eat like MSG & aspartame; but the odds of it being the only cause of your symptoms as it was for that woman in the special are extremely low. Its just one of many things to try. My advice...stay neutral emoationally but give it a try. Find out other things that have helped or cured people (liver flushes, guaifenesin, magnesium supplementation, diet changes, mercury chelation, anti-yeast medications, etc). Try things, talk to people in your area and find out who is a good FMS doctor. Looking for the magic bullet is a bad idea but if you try enough things and sort of become your own doctor and are really tenacious you may discover some of the things that are causing you to feel so horrible. Some people are lucky....like the woman on the show there is one major thing that is behind their illness; but for most of us there are several factors. Its mostly experimentation; its important to try to find a doctor who will dig deep and investigate and experiment different treatments with you....there's been virtually no funding for FMS/CFS research....the only " proven " remedies are drugs for sleep and pain; but you wont gain any real progress with these. My $0.02 There's another good list I would recomend called CFSFMExperimental . Join it and if you have time look through the archives; there is a wealth of information and anecdotal reports. My only other advice is to investigate lyme disease. Good luck to you.
Guest guest
, You're absolutely right. There's no one thing which cures this condition but a combination of the right things can help. I've been on Dr. Majid Ali's regimen for several months now. I wasn't cured but it didn't get worse. Recently I had to travel a lot and stupidly stopped taking all the supplements. I had a major relapse and was worse than I had ever been. I'm now back on them full time plus taking Reishi, lots of hot baths, stretching, using a TENS unit and I'm back to OK now. I also have a massage once a week which is great. I've never taken aspartame because I've always sensed it couldn't be healthy and won't allow my children to have any diet products. MSG is also bad. My husband and I both have heart palpitations when we go to Chinese restaurants even though we tell them no MSG we always know when they put it in. You have to treat your whole body, taking supplements for intestinal, liver and kidney health and drink lots of water. I think all women should also have hormone profiles done. My memory was gone and I went to the doctor about something else. Because of my age she did a hormone profile and my estrogen levels were so low. Since I've been on estrogen my memory is 80% improved. It's wonderful.
