Hey KK, BTW, we expect people to use their real names when posting. Net-etiquette. " Germall Plus can effectively preserve cosmetic and personal care formulations beginning at 0.025%. Typical usage levels of Germall Plus range From 0.05% - 0.2%. Challenge data have confirmed that even at low usage levels, Germall Plus can deliver broad spectrum antimicrobial preservation. For products containing a significant amount of proteins and/or complex ingredients, 0.2% of Germall Plus is recommended for proper presentation. Be sure you test for effectiveness in your specific use. " http://pawmadesoap.safeshopper.com/100/cat100.htm?581 I am quite sure that Liquid Germall Plus will be a very effective preservative at 1%. But I would be concerned about the safety issue. Why did the manufacturer put a limit on the usage rate? I wonder if Paw Made Soaps or ISP/Sutton have any safety data for 1% Liquid Germall Plus. Who knows?? Personally, I think using bio-active ingredient, like Liquid Germall Plus, above the maximum level recommended by the manufacture is exposing yourself to liabilty. Don't forget that " [e]ach ingredient used in a cosmetic product and each finished cosmetic product shall be adequately substantiated for safety prior to marketing. Any such ingredient or product whose safety is not adequately substantiated prior to marketing is misbranded unless it contains the following conspicuous statement on the principal display panel: Warning--The safety of this product has not bee determined.
