Guest guest
I wanted to clarify first that it wasn't my mom as some people gathered from my email!! I went to see last night and she is in pain but is grateful that she is alive. They told her she should not have survived and had she been wearing her seatbelt she would have died most likely. She was in the backseat of a car that ran a stop sign and a lady going down a main highway at 55 mph at least T-boned them. The driver of the car was impaired and is having felony charges brought against him. said she remembers the car rolling and the window breaking out and her hand dragging against the pavement. She lost about 12 layers of skin and tore all the tendons that make her fingers work. They are unsure if she will ever regain use of her hand. She was thrown 200+ feet from the car and landed on the other side of some railroad tracks. She had to have a blood transfusion once arriving at the hospital. She underwent surgery yesterday which took four hours as her hip was displaced and it was up in her rib cage. She has to undergo more CAT scans to make sure the position is correct. As for her hand, she will have to undergo plastic surgery over time and receive skin grafts. She will also be in therapy indefinitely. It's such a sad situation but we are SO grateful she is alive. She has had some problems lately with getting into trouble and I hope this was the wake up call she needed. Thank you all so much for your support and prayers. I appreciate you all so much.
