Hi and all..

I had to write to applaud your very succinct, true e mail re:the

Willow Bark Thread. I too am from Canada and therefore we

have to be extra careful the ingredients we import from the U.S

because of the cost we incur with the exchange, shipping and

the extra GST (tax) that we have to pay.

I have not been on this list as long and often stay in lurkdom

and am becoming less intimidated since Angie and Pat straightened me around!

LOL! I also know that although sometimes things are said in a fairly

straight forward manner

( sometimes harsh ) the intent is to inform and educate which

I appreciate very much. I would not be happy if Maurice or didnt

imppart the info. the way they do because it also

makes one notice, read and research...no spoon feeding here!

Thanks for your very good email, .and Maurice you

just keep on being you! Marcia

I have been coming to this list for well over a year now and have

witnessed some pretty hot debates. I lurked for a year before I had

the " guts' to post. I have to admit that, I have, at times thought

some of the comments terse and even harsh and somewhat offensive.

Especially at the beginning. But over time, I have gotten use to it

and have even grown to appreciate and understand it. I may not have

liked some of the comments at the time they were made, but they sure

did make me think, open my eyes and do my research. And boy, does it

make me think long and hard before I post! :oD

I went into this business with a head full of myths and ridiculous

hype, perpetuated mostly by my training and the so called experts of

the professional skin care lines I was trained in. And the Day Spas

I used to work in. Not to mention the bambardment from TV and

Magazines. If it weren't for this site and the mind boggling

generosity and knowledge of the experts here, I would still be

buying into a lot of that misinformation.

Through the help of this site and A LOT of very hard work, I have

developed a very safe and gentle line of skin care products that

really WORK. I field test my products ( 11 so far) on 100 + faces at

a cosmetology school before marketing and have never had even one

adverse reaction to a product. And have also had tremendous results.

I credit that success largely to the excellent, eye opening (if

somewhat painful) guidance I have received here. The very best part

of this site, is the " no nonsense tolerated " approach. No fluff. And

lots of substantiation.

I have no time to waste. I come here for facts and truths. I take a

lot of pride in the education of my clients on the care of their

skin. They trust me to give them truth and not the hype.

One of my biggest challenges in marketing my line, has been battling

the " all natural " thing. I am sooo frustrated. My products are

probably as " Natural " as is possible and still be safe, but I

constantly have people telling me they are looking for products with

no chemicals. I believe that there is a growing demand in the

marketplace for " All Natural " skin care products because people have

been led to believe through misleading advertising that it is

possible to have such a thing. I get very annoyed when I read (from

Coconut or from fruits and vegetables) beside a " chemical "

ingredient. When in reality, saying that ingredient came from

coconut is like saying " Gasoline comes from dinosaurs " I am stunned

when I pick up an " All Natural " skin care product and read

ingredients Like Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco Betaine along with a

host of different emulsifiers which of course have in

brackets " from coconut, or vegetable source…etc.

I just can't market that way. I try to be very up front with

customers and clients about my ingredients. But I have to admit, I

am tempted at times. It would make marketing a whole lot easier.

Dennis, I have been to your site and have for the most part been

very impressed. There are many things I would like to order from

you, if I lived in the US. But the wording used about the Parabens

and Black Willow Bark, would definitely have me believing that they

were natural if not for Maurice's input. Many formulators would

likely interpret those descriptions the same way, and even go so

far as to put that same wording on their labels or in their own

marketing, thus perpetuating the myth that " all natural "

or " chemical free " is safely available to the public.

I have followed this thread with interest, and I don't believe

anything Maurice said was meant in any way to be malicious,

disparaging or negative. He can be blunt, but he is just giving us

what we all on this list have come to expect from all of our

experts. Education. There are many sites I can get sunshine blown

up my " you know what " . But I come to THIS site for the straight

goods.
