I think you were referring to the second article (Formlators Widen Your Horizons). http://www.herc.com/aqualon/personal_care/pc_eulit/images/eu_pdf_files/pctr001 ..pdf http://www.creative-developments.co.uk/papers/Formulators,%20it%20is%20time%20t o%20widen%20your%20horizons.html The GuarSilk is a very good hair conditioner and one that I recommend for dry or damaged hair---along with panthenol, humectants, proteins, etc. It is very substantive to hair, particularly damaged hair. It is more conditioning than the polyquaterniums which are sometimes used as conditioners/detanglers. The second article (Formulators Widen Your Horizons) does mention that some of the cationic, high molecular weight polymers can overcondition hair. But here is what I think I would not recommend GuarSilk for someone with fine, limp normal to oily hair. I do recommend it for damaged, dry hair or for someone who wants to reduce flyaway or frizziness or too much curl. For most normal hair types, a conditioning shampoo shouldn't be used every time the hair is shampooed--for some hair types it shouldn't be used at all, but then for others it's fine to use each time. I'll use myself and my family as examples. I have normal to slightly dry, medium thick, shoulder length hair with a bit of natural wave. Don't tell anyone, but I have it highlighted I like to use a shampoo formula with about 0.2 or 0.3% guarsilk and have not noticed any sort of buildup on my hair. But, I do vary shampoos often (I try out new formulas all the time), but for the past 3 months all the shampoo formulas have had that same percentage of the guarsilk. I wash my hair on the average of every other day to every day. I follow up my shampoo with my conditioner (Conditioning Emulsifier) about every other time I shampoo. This whole process gives me the kind of hair that I want--full, bouncy, glossy (if only the gray would go away on it's own My 17 year old daughter has waist length, very thick, wavy hair. She washes her hair each day. The shampoo that works best for her hair is one with 0.5% GuarSilk, panthenol, proteins, etc. She follows every shampoo with the conditioner (Conditioning Emulsifier) that has additional GuarSilk, EmEster, panthenol, etc. Her hair is gorgeous, silky and shiny with body. It shows absolutely no evidence of buildup of any kind. I have a client who makes a shampoo with GuarSilk for a salon and her customers with long hair wanted a very sleek look, with no flyaway. So she re-formulated a shampoo with 1% GuarSilk and they were very pleased. So, it's going to vary according to hair type and preference--like so many things.
