Guest guest
I recently ended an intimate relationship. I chose to end the relationship after I found out that my partner had once again done something deceitful. That has been a significant part of our history. We had about six months apart and just a month and a half ago, I chose to open back up to her. I opened up, behaved faithfully, honestly etc. She didn't. Something confuses me. Whenever we move in a valued direction, we can count on experiencing pain. Some pain needs to be accepted to move in that direction. Is the pain of consistent deceit and unfaithfulness to be accepted when I move towards developing intimacy? Or is it that the pain of loss is to be accepted in order to move away from a relationship where doing this value won't work? In other words, am I avoiding pain by holding on or by letting go in this case?
