,

The premature closing of the metopic suture is the source for quite a

bit of debate. First of all, there is controversy over when the

suture should actually close. I have heard opinions ranging from 6

months to 3 years. Then there is controversy over when surgery is

needed. From my research, it seems that most neurosurgeons will do

surgery if the metopic suture is fully closed. Early fusion of the

metopic suture often give the " Klingon " appearance. A great deal of

controvery centers on whether surgery is needed if the metopic suture

is partially fused. They will consider other factors, such as

intercranial pressure.

Sorry if this is more info than necessary. Lorenzo was mistakenly

diagnosed with metopic cranio, so I've done quite a bit of research.

Our neurosurgeon was going to do surgery even if the suture was

partially fused.

Sorry for the long-windedness! lol
