Guest guest
Sue & Riley - Boy, does that sound like me. They would rave about the changes and I would just look and think I don't see that much! Anyway, do they have the head cast they made of Riley? That is what did it for me. I could compare the mold to the head. I think sometimes since we are looking at those precious little heads daily it is harder. We didn't get great results from our DOC Band in the 7 1/2 weeks we wore. I'm hoping more the second time! Tammy & 12/8/99 PS Sometimes I think they are trained to speak in such encouraging ways!? Guest guest
Riley has been in the band now for 7 weeks. We took her to Cranial Tech yesterday for a two week check and the technician was saying how great she was doing and what an improvement. Here's the thing: I don't see the " wonderful improvement " they are talking about. Her head seems to be improving a little bit, but not to the extent they say. Is it just my untrained eye or am I just looking too closely instead of seeing the big picture? I am interested to know anyones experience here. Thanks, Sue and Riley (5/16/00) Phoenix, AZ
Guest guest
Sue, We noticed a lot of improvement with Averie at first (her head sort of " popped out " in back where it was flat), but then not a lot. The CT techs also say she is improving a lot (she's been in her band 8 1/2 weeks). I do think that they see things better than we do...I never saw much asymmetry with Averie, but they were able to see it. I think it also depends on the child's age...the older they are, the slower it goes, so what they are saying is great improvement may not look as good to you (I don't remember how old Riley is). When you're in for her next check, I would ask them to show you more specifically where they see the improvement. Sometimes it is also helpful to compare her head now to the " headsicle " that was used to make the band. Hope that's helpful. We're off to CT and the neurosurgeon today for check-ups, so I'm anxious to see what they have to say about Averie. lee (mom, to Averie, 4/23/00) >From: " Sue McAuliffe " <AZMCAU@...> >Reply-Plagiocephalyegroups >Plagiocephalyegroups >Subject: Need Advice >Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2000 15:00:12 -0000 > >Riley has been in the band now for 7 weeks. Guest guest
Tammy: Does Orthomerica provide a " headsicle " as well? Kendra
Guest guest
Sue: I know you have gotten many great responses, but I thought I would throw my two cents in!! I also " didn't see " what our orthodist did sometimes, and also saw some regression at times that she didn't see. I always looked back to the " head on a stick " before I made any judgments. Even now, at 15 months, I still see some minor changes in the shape of his head, and that head on a stick has come out of storage a time or two to make me feel sure we are not regressing. I agree that your technician should be able to show you in detail what he is talking about, but also realize that we as parents look at these little heads every minute we can with such scrutiny. It can be hard to step back and see the big picture. In all, hang in there and hopefully your daughter's head will continue to show great improvement!
