> Phenonip® can be added to the aqueous phase readily up to its limit

of solubility.

I have successful challenge test data for lotion approx. 80% water,

15% oils, rest surfactants etc., adding phenonip @65 celsius after

combining both phases, at a level of 0.4% phenonip. I have never

split phenonip addition.

Thats great:o)

I was only quoting what the company said about using their product.

I don't use it at all. I have some Phenonip but have not tried it yet, was

actually afraid to touch the small jars they were shipped in after one

busted apart into pieces when I tried to open it and cut my thumb wide open.

I was afraid to touch the jars/viles after that..I finally got the other 3

open yesterday though and put it in a PET bottle.

But now I have the Germall plus so will probably just use that. However my

plan was to test all 3 preservatives that I have to see which I liked best

Karla,

I find this document interesting because in all the years I have been

using Phenonip I have never before seen this recommendation. This is a

new document from Clariant since the original material dates back to

Nipa Hardwicke, who not only invented the parabens but also the

synergistic blend called Phenonip.

Rest assured that you can add Phenonip to an emulsion at temperatures

slightly below the emulsification temperature without problems.

According to the information given on the document at the link you

provided

below they say it is best to split up the adding of the Phenonip at the

liquid stage and at the end..,

Here is what it says:

I think what Sherry is trying to get across is that GB II would

be the best choice for things like water based sprays since

it has been many of our experiences that Phenonip will cloud

the water. GB II will leave the water and color clear.
