OT cradle cap

I happen to believe cradle cap is caused from yeast, but docs will say

it's " just " overactive sebaceous glands. (I got into a big arguement

with a pediatrician on a message board once about this. I say " what's

causing the glands to be overactive to begin with? " and she couldn't

answer that.) My ds had it until he was 15 mos old. Read more on my

My new ds has had it once, before I started giving him his own

acidophilus with an eyedropper. I was taking it myself but I think he

was born with a LOT of yeast - (it's been a few weeks and he STILL has a

coated white tongue)- and wasn't getting enough from my milk to combat

it.

still has a bit of it too and she's been out of her band for 6 months now. In addition to all the other great ideas, there's also a J & J "naturals" (I think???) cradle cap formula out now also (and one for eczema too!) I found it in the same area that you find Desitin and Balmex.

That works pretty well with her!

Hi everybody. I need some good suggestions for a bad case of cradle cap. Jenna developed cradle cap while banded. She has been done since Jan. 21. I still can't seem to get rid of it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

has had this on and off since birth. Using a little bit of

olive oil on her head (just a few drops) and rubbing it in with a

soft child's hairbrush seems to clean it up a bit (I still use a

brush to rub her shampoo in daily to ensure her scalp is nice and

clean) Good luck!

Hi! had cradle cap too. I tried rubbing olive oil on it and

then washing it off with a cradle cap shampoo such as Dentinox. It

cleared up within days and has not recurred since. i still use

Dentinox once a week/fortnight as a preventative measure.

Hey, do you still use olive oil when the baby has lots of hair?

has had it off and on since birth, but we haven't found

anything that really seems to work. And she has TONS of hair.

Baby oil worked well for us and using a baby brush in a circular motion

Angie, Jeffry had it too, pretty bad. My ped said to use either Dove

Moisturizing Sampoo and Conditioner or there is a and No

More Tears Baby Moisturizing shampoo. I tried both, the J & J worked the best

I think. I didn't like the Dove, because it does get in their eyes. Hope

that this works as well for you as it did for us. Best wishes, Heidi, mom

My best friend who is a dermatologist recommended " Nizoral " shampoo

that you can get at the drug store (non-prescription strength). It

cured my son's cradle cap. Just be careful with it getting in the

eyes.
