Why 'improve its absorption' (re: Liz M #3979)

Why are you trying to improve absorption in a group

that is over saturated and trying to get it out?

Thanks for doing the math and letting us know

But I am puzzled. This is a genuine query, not

a trick question: Why the concern with greater

absorption in a group that is over saturated?

Is this just for you, or for everyone? Maybe I am

confused or missed something.

While on the topic:

Saliva studies show best absorption through the

palms of the hands and bottoms of the feet.

These are the 2 areas I suggest to clients, but I

never suggest more than small amounts (like

the size of a green pea) using only 2% cream.

Even then we have to be careful with tissue

levels getting too high.

Patients often question " But how will it get from

my feet to my lumpy, painful breasts? " " How will

putting it on my feet or hands effect my

Mittelschmerz pain? "

I give a 2 part answer:

First, you will find subjectively that your symptoms

improve. Second, when we repeat the same saliva

test in 2-4 weeks you will see the change in the

numbers from the baseline reading.

It usually does not take them too long to realize

the truth of what you often write: " With hormones,

less tends to equal more. " (My paraphrasing.)

A related and frequently encountered problem:

" My Doctor wants me to use the E3 (Estriol) cream

vaginally. He/she tells me it will not absorb

systemically. "

I explain that it Will absorb systemically, and very

easily. It is always easy to prove since I always

work from a baseline saliva reading.

" We'll re-test in 2 or 4 weeks. Same day of week,

same time of day. Or same day in cycle etc. You'll

see for yourself - based both on how you feel and

you see'll the change in the numbers. "

" You mean if I apply E vaginally and my oral, saliva

numbers jump - it is probably absorbing systemically? "

" Yes, exactly. "

" Just like when I put the P on my feet and my saliva

numbers jumped?

" Yes. You've got it! "

not spread to as large a skin area -- and from what I understand this

would affect the pharmacokinetics of the stuff. I can imagine a more

concentrated P spread over a relatively small area might tend to

oversaturate any given area. Wonder what we could thin it with to make

it spread further to improve its absorption?
