Natural deodorant?

I have been trying a curious deodorant called 'Trust' (Hlavin Cosmetics,

Israel). I tried it briefly last year, but rather erratically, but have

actually followed the directions this time. It appears to work very well,

but I am not a particularly sweaty (I suppose I mean smelly!) person...

I do know that this particular deodorant is popular in the Middle East, and

especially amongst men who do not mind sweating but do not want to smell

sweaty. Although the usage instructions suggest that it can be spread very

thinly (not rubbed in) on the underarm area, I also know that the product was

initially designed to be put only on the underarm hairs themselves, and not

on the skin; another reason perhaps that it is more popular with men.

The usage instructions suggest it is used once every 5 - 15 days, and that it

is also 'unaffected by climatic conditions, strenuous physical activity

swimming, washing or soap'. It suggests that the product should be first

used 48 hours after stopping the use of any other underarm product. It

contains absolutely nothing (conventional) that I can see that will kill or

remove underarm bacteria, but apparently does so. The usage dose is very

small; amount 'equivalent to a drop of water'. In appearance it is a white,

thick, powdery dry cream. Anyway the ingredients list is:

Arnica oil, vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, potato starch, calendula oil, zinc

oxide, petroleum jelly, talc, citric acid, fragrance.

All these ingredients are readily available to the homecrafter (I believe

ascorbyl palmitate is simply a fat soluble form of vitamin C), so I offer

this up as as something that might be of interest. My guess, looking at

this ingredient list, is that it somehow stops bacteria from clinging to the

underarm. Any comments?
