That means that in 1 kilo of product, we would add 50g-150g of preservative.

This amount of preservative should be able to preserve the product up to the

lotion stage and

1.0% at max of oily or waxy additives. Care needs to be taken not to destroy

the preservative. While mixing

in consideration warm water will cool down when mixed with the cold base. The

preservative protects strictly against microbial contamination. The additives

should be tested for micro-contamination. "

stable for dilution with water until the lotion stage. You may want to add extra

preservative if you

are creating body milk or body mist. The percentage of preservative added should

be between 0.15%-0.5% "

will require more preservative and the same if you add more than 2% of additives

(being

waxes, butters, etc.). Floral water would be considered the same as water so if

you add more than the amount required to make lotion (ie if you are making a

spray) then

you will require the additional preservative in the percentages listed above.

,

I think you were given insufficient information for this product to be used

safely.

If you don't know exactly how much Liquid Germall Plus is in the base, then how

can you calculate how much extra preservative you will need or not need.

" Liquid Germall

Plus is issued in levels of 0. 5 - 1.5% in the formula " doesn't help at all.

Apparently, The ScentShack <http://www.thescentshack.com/> is also selling

Multibase EL1. This is what they have to say:

A concentrated lotion base that you combine with warm water to easily create

soothing body creams, lotions, or body milks. Mix one part Multibase-EL1 with

one part water

for a cream, with 4 parts water for a lotion, with 6 parts water for a body

milk, or with up to 8 parts water for body mist. Using a concentrate saves on

shipping costs and all

the necessary preservatives and stablizers are already there.

INCI Ingredient List: Glycerin, Glycol Monostearate, Acrylamide Copolymer,

Octyldodecanol, Isopropyl Myristate, Isopropyl Palmitate, PEG-20 Glyceryl

Stearate,

Ceteareth-14, Polysorbate 85, Water, Aloe Vera Extract, Odopropanol

Butylcarbamate.

That ingredient list is not accurate.

As we know, Liquid Germall Plus is a 40% solution of Germall Plus in Propylene

Glycol. So the ingredients in Liquid Germall Plus are Propylene Glycol,

olidinyl Urea

and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.

The " Odopropanol Butylcarbamate " listed in the Scent Shack ingredient list must

be Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate. If the Multibase EL-1 sold by The Scent Shack

is the

same as the Multibase EL-1 sold by Bare Essentials then where is the Propylene

Glycol and olidinyl Urea.

Glycol Monostearate should be Glycol Stearate. I have no idea what " Acrylamide

Copolymer " . It's not in my CTFA dictionary.

It would appear that there are two different Multibases out there: Multibase and

Multibase EL-1.

I found this information at http://www.esoapsupplies.com/page13.htm and

http://www.naturesbouquet.com/special.htm

Multibase Ingredients

Glycerin - Emulsifier/Moisturizer

Glycol Monostearate - Emulsifier/Stabilizer/Thickener

Octyldodecanol - Skin Conditioner

Isopropyl Myristate - Moisturizer

Isopropyl Palmitate - Moisturizer

PEG-20 Glyceryl Stearate - Binder/Softener

Ceteareth-14 - Emollient/Anti Foaming Agent

Aloe Vera Extract - Moisturizer

Germaban II - Preservative

Carbopol - Stabilizer

Distilled Water

I think you can see the similarities.
