To take a g u e s s, progesterol is not bio-ident. progesterone, but why don't you ask the pharmacist, or if they won't tell you, the doctor's office ?

I think you should listen to your body when it "cramps". Seems to me a lot of progester..in ratio to the estradiol for s t a r ters...! Or were you on that dose before ? (Can't recall your hormone situation.)

Q about compounded estradiol and oral micronized progesterol

I posted before but want to clarify my treatment and ask for advice. I went to a new gyn about 1 wk ago and she put me on compoundedestradiol .5 and oral micronized progesterol (50mg) twice/day all in 1combined pill from a compounding pharmacy. I began to cramp andsensed some hair weakness upon taking it as well as some body itching.I stopped after 5 days and started taking only estrace .50 twice/day,no progesterone. I am wondering if anyone knows if this micronizedprogesterol is good or has any side effects such as hair fallout etc.(such as prometrium has). I am later going to investigate theestrogen with olive oil. I would appreciate any comments. I had been off hormones since January and started May 24. I went to a

gyn in NY who prescribed these compounded pills, and bought 120 pills

for $130 because I thought I would be out of the country for at least

2 months. Almost immediately the cramping began and then I noticed

hair fallout as well (not a lot but I had it controlled up to that

time). So I stopped and went back to what I was taking pre-January

which was just 50mcg of estrace because the prometrium 100mg that the

other doc had prescribed I always felt bad on this. I called the docs

office but she is on holiday for this week and the office told me what

she had given me although they said it wasn't prometrium, they said

just 'oral micronized progesterone...she didn't give you prometrium

because you said you didn't do well on prometrium " . Now I find out

oral micronized progesterone is prometrium so I am confused. So I now

in the interim am taking estrace alone in the morning, and at night

the combined compounded pill with progesterone/estradiol that the new

gyn prescribed, until I can get some clarification as to what to

change to. I emailed the doc but she hasn't gotten back to me yet.

I started taking them 5/24 when she prescribed them. She's on holiday

now. The flashes are unbearable and that's why I take them, but I

reduced the progesterone/estradiol pill to one at night, and I take

estrace alone in the morning. Now I have noticed (or rather my

husband has noticed) my stomach very bloated. I thought I was getting

fat but then I read it's a side effect of the progesterone. I think I

will just cut out completely that pill and take only estrace until I

can get in touch with her.
