I am getting a little off topic here and hopefully it will be the last email

from me on the subject. There are just some things that I feel very strongly

about and hope I can bring some clarity without alienating anybody.

> ... a " trend " that union-hating employers would be wise to avoid

....

Unfortunately, people seldom learn from history and it is too late before

they realize that they have given away that which good men have fought and

died for.

As for the cosmetic industry as a whole,

> I'm very thankful for the integrity of all who are on this list, because

> there are many in the field not so honest.

You will find bad apples in all areas of life. The main reason for a

corporation to exist is to make the shareholders a profit...actually to

maximize their profit. Sometimes greed does strange things to people, yet I

find the majority of people to be honest.

Those are the ones who deny the

> harm and only admit the benefits of their products, which reinforces my

> generalized theory (they're no harder for me to point out than for you to

> point out the " handcrafters " who so blatantly put the public at risk).

Ah, but you are forgetting the dance, the courtship...it takes two, both are

looking for something that the other claims to have. How many courtships

must you go through to find that which you are looking for. Who has the

responsibility to look past all the romancing to get to the truth?

> We as consumers start to learn this and, unfortunately, most do not follow

> through to learn enough.

The promise so great that the risk is ignored until that day that enough is

enough. Then it is " no man/woman will ever get the chance to do that

again " ...but the little voice is saying, " I should have known " .

While I still only " know a little, " it's the

> " little bit more " I glean here that enlightens my approach to this

business

> (and has changed my whole product-goal direction a few times). Thank you

for

And thank you.

> It isn't " syndets " that I have a problem with ... I'm tired of the abuses

of

> the marketers claiming their product will cure something (all properly and

> legally) while, instead, it makes it worse (most acne products come to

mind -

> even in the " naturals " markets).

And you are back to the dance and the romance, even though you know it is a

line. The promise sounds different this time, doesn't it?

Food is so overly processed it no longer

> contains the elements we need ... yet the only group appearing to change

that

> is the health-food industry that charges you the price of your farm to eat

> " healthy. "

When families stop eating at Mcs and start cooking regular meals

again, the problem will be on the mend.

Drug companies are only recently being more responsible (I

> believe) in revealing all potential side effects, and doctors and

pharmacists

> are more conscious about providing that information to the patients.

Actually I think it has only been since they-the drug companies-have started

advertising. Now they are like the rest of us, they come under the truth in

advertising laws. Most doctors don't have the time to read up on every new

drug that hits the market. They usually rely on salespeople or other sources

for their information. I don't know about the rest of the Country, but

around MN pharmacists are required to know about the drugs they are

dispensing and explain the drug to the customer.

It's

> frustrating, and does create a mindset that is not easily set aside.

, you need to read all sides. Take it from someone that has spent many

years around alternative practices. When you get stuck reading only one

viewpoint it is easy to believe the lie. The truth usually lies somewhere in

the middle. We need alternative medicine and we need western medicine. We

need toiletry and cosmetic products that are safe. We can make some very

nice products for ourselves, but we can't mass produce them, because it

would be too costly. There are markets where a penny can make a difference

whether a product goes to market or not. Does that make the manufacturer a

bad person for providing a product to a segment of the population that can't

afford to spend any more for that product, even if it uses a harsh

surfactant? Things are seldom black and white. Remember the dance.
