Guest guest
Hey , Well, the " gang " from EI showed up today - 4 of them! One of them I guess was in training, because they asked if it was okay if she " observed " - I figured the more the merrier! We went back over 's medical history, talked about her schedule (NOT that she's really on a schedule), what we do on a " normal " day, and they asked me about what I'd noticed her doing or not doing since the last visit, and what I thought she ought to be doing but isn't. She HAS improved a bit since the last visit, but she's still not rolling over. And she can't get from lying down to sitting or vice versa. She wants DESPERATELY to move and it really frustrates her, but she can't seem to master the rolling over bit. Cranial Tech told me the muscles in her left neck/shoulder are tighter than the right, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it (that's how she ended up with plagio - she'd only face toward the right side). For a while she'd hold her left arm back and favor the right arm. I've made it a point to put toys on her left side, I took the toy off the right side of her high chair so that if she wanted to play she'd have to use her left arm, and I keep things mounted on the left side of her crib so she'll face that way. They asked me what areas I thought she needed work on, and what I'd like to see doing in six months. I told them I didn't want to " teach " her to roll over or crawl, but that I wanted to strengthen and relax her muscles so that she could learn those things on her own. So, we start PT (I think it's actually occupational therapy, although I haven't a clue what the difference is) next week, and they'll come to the house once a week for 45 minutes to start out. I actually was hoping for twice a week, but I guess that's a bit too much to expect. I'll just pay close attention to what they do and maybe do some on my own with her. Overall, it was a really pleasant experience. Everybody I've met in EI so far has been wonderful and they've really put my mind at ease. Let's hope you have the same experience! > " Cummings-Hall, " wrote: > > Becky, > > Hunter is 12 months and has never crawled or pulled up.
