Guest guest
Welcome to the group! this is a great group. everyone is very supportive. I wish we had the scanner when Jenna was STARbanded. I have heard it is wonderful! I would say go with your instincts. If you feel it is time to move forward to the band, then go for it. At such a young age, Xander should receive fast and wonderful correction! Please keep us updated, Angie and Jenna(STARband grad 1/21/03) New Here & Hopefully getting the Star Band soon for my son (m) Ok - this is my 3rd time trying to post! So my son (Xander) is 4 months old and was diagnosed with torticollis ( & reflux) at around 6 weeks. We go to physical therapy every week for this and it is quite grueling but we are seeing some slight improvement in his turning (but not his tilt) so hopefully things will continue to get better. The right side of his head is flat since this is the side he prefers to turn to. We were going to wait until 6 months to get a band but we have decided to move forward. I am currently waiting for the orthotist to contact my insurance before we have our 1st appt. I believe we will be getting the Star Band and I just found out that the orthotist does a scanning procedure rather than the casting procedure so it doesn't sound too bad. Anways - nice to meet all of you and let me know your opinions on moving forward now versus waiting until 6 months - will it be easier if I start now?Angie & Xander (4 months)Grand Rapids, MIFor more plagio info

Guest guest
Holy cow- Welcome Angie! I'm in Grand Rapids, Mi as well, as is another moderator !!! Are you going to Free Bed??? That's where & her daughter went for their STARband treatment w/great results and they used the STARscanner!! I know will reply to you w/Vivian's success story!!! I hope you'll have (GN) as your orthotist, raves about her!!! I also brought my daughter Abby to MFB for her STARband 2.5 yrs ago already (gosh time flies!), unfortunately for us though, Abby's ortho wasn't very experienced or trained in treating plagio babies w/the STARband so we had no correction in 3 mos time.. But from what I've heard, they've addressed those problems and all seems to be well there now. At the time we went, there also was not the scanner, but I've heard it's very good!! Wow, I cannot believe there's another Grand Rapids member, I've been here 2.5 yrs now and have seriously met several G.R. members, such a small small world!! Anyhoo, if you can begin treatment now, go for it!! The younger you begin, the faster & better correction you'll get. Babies don't mind the bands at all. You'll be pleasantly surprised! I'm so excited you're with us Enjoying the cloudy/rainy day?? Grr!! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad Jenison, MIxandersmommy30 <Angie_Hendrickson@...> wrote: Ok - this is my 3rd time trying to post! Guest guest
Hi Angie: We were also told we could wait it out and see how it went, but we just decided to go for it, since we were completely unable to keep him off the right side at night no matter what we tried. Kurt (almost 4 months) got his STARband today. We also had the scanning and it was so easy. Good luck with whatever you decide.
