Guest guest
Kerri, So happy to hear it's not a skin breakdown. I'm sure the moleskin will take care of the problem. I didn't know you went to the NJ Cranial Tech. Guest guest
I'm so glad to hear that it could all be taken care of and she won't be out of the band! Way to go Charolette! Guest guest
Hi Kerri, Heat rash is unfortunately kind of common with the bands. Hopefully CT gave you some good advice on dealing with that. Removing the band when the sweat gets bad and mopping down baby and band will be a good start. A little cortizone cream should help too. Let the cream dry completely before putting the band back on. When we visited CT they mentioned the lymph node problem and it sounds like it is fairly common. Hopefully that is all that it is. Let us know how the redness is going over the next couple of days. Guest guest
Hi Kerri, I haven't met Cheri yet. Tomorrow is our final appt hopefully I'll get to meet her then. Guest guest
Sounds like is still sensitive with his new band. It's tough because infant's skin reacts so differently during this time. True, continuing red spots always seem to be a big, red flag, however. You never know if one is going to get real nasty or not. I'm glad you are getting another adjustment tomorrow. I've never heard of any permament damage from helmet therpy either. Once treatment is done skin goes back to normal. My othro told me up front that would have reoccuring red spots because his skin seemed so sensitive. He's a fair, strawberry blonde so I wasnt shocked when she mentioned it. He does seem to get them at least once a week in various places. I guess I'm so used to them now they don't phase me. I don't bother to wait and see if they go away after an hour if it's typical redness. Usually, when I take his band off to clean it there is a new spot and the previous one is long gone. He moves around alot in his crib during naps and he's constantly crawling and trying to walk all day so the band must shift a bit. I've never had a skin break down, but we've come close a couple of times. You may possibly have to go in several more times to get that perfect fit. Sorry your first two weeks aren't the best. Hopefully, tomorrow he'll get a great fit and on his way to a rounder noggin Good luck, Crista-Grayslake, IL Mom to -9 mo old-DOCbanded 5/13 brachy > Sorry this update is so late - we went to our Cottage last Sunday and returned today - no PC at the cottage. > > didn't wear his band most of last weekend because I didn't feel the red spot was fading enough. We drove in from our Cottage for his Monday appointment. They adjusted the front again and since this was his week 1 appointment adjusted on his flat side to allow for growth. The ortho said he could still have a red spot on his forehead as long as the skin was healthy and they felt the skin looked healthy. She said some babies skin is more sensitive than others and this happens sometimes with tummy sleepers. Our next appointment is a week from Monday. > > I'm not that happy with the fact that he basically has a red spot all the time. He just woke up out of a sound sleep screaming (which he has never done) so I took off the band. I will be taking him into CT on Monday even though we don't have an appointment because I am concerned that the fit on his forehead isn't right. > > I am confused because this seems contradictory to the CT protocol. Guest guest
Hmm...my daughter, Theresa, got her band on 7/22 and she has a redspot that won't go away either. It is right where the band joins on the left side. When I talked to the folks at the Glenview CT they really didn't offer much other than re-reading me the instructions from the sheet I had gotten on the day of the band. Likewise, I'm going to get her in on Monday because I'm very concerned about a skin breakdown. Guest guest
, It does sound frustrating that has a red area that doesn't completely fade within the proscribed hour time limit. When he woke up screaming, do you think it was due to the band for sure?? Was his skin really red in that area at that time? I wanted to echo that I think I have read posts about very fair- skinned babies having pale pink areas that never completely faded (maybe even one of our mod's babies was like this, I'll see if I can find out), but I'm not totally sure. Hopefully responses to your post will pick up tomorrow (since weekends are a bit slow) and we'll hear about some first-hand accounts that may be similar to . I also agree about keeping the band off and going in for an appt. on Monday to check the whole situation out. Would you post when you have time tomorrow and let us know what they said or did? Take care, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > Sorry this update is so late - we went to our Cottage last Sunday and returned today - no PC at the cottage. > > didn't wear his band most of last weekend because I didn't feel the red spot was fading enough.
