I too am having stress related issues w/EN my dr's just looks at me and tells me to rest and take Advile and Tylenol. I can agree trying to sleep at night not so easy I hurt so much. mary b Subject: EN nightmareTo: erythema_nodosum_Group Date: Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 10:58 PM I have had EN for about the entire new year. It started out as smallbumps under my skin on one leg then moved to the other leg and ankle.I have been on potassium iodide and indocin since January with littlerelief. I also have been on prednisone twice. Now I seem to behaving problems with my skin itching all over my body and in my scalpmainly. I find this all so distressing and I was wondering if anyoneelse developed skin itching as well. This is just all so strange. Myblood work has all come back negative as well as my chest x-ray. Atthis point I am just tired of going to the doctor for they don't seemto be taking this seriously. For a few days it seemed as if I washaving a problem with hallucinations, but those have all gone away, although I still sometimes wake up confused. This past week I havebeen so sleepy, no matter how much sleep I get during the night. Doesthis ever get any better? Thanks in advance. Guest guest
I have been told the exact same thing, but how can you sleep when the itching takes over completely. I have been just using Benadryl today, but still trying to work and finding it almost impossible. I am just perplexed as what to do next and which one of my many physicians to go through for this problem. The lac-hydrin that the doctor gave me works well from a moisturization standpoint, but for the itching in my scalp and face I am at a loss. Guest guest
Today my dermatologist prescribed the hydroxyzine for me to take at bedtime. I was kinda wondering why at bedtime since I have been itching all day long, but just have to trust that he knows what he is doing. Will let you know in a few days about the progress with this medication. I had called my primary care physician, but he said that unless I had actual bumps he did not know why I would have the itchy skin. I still am unsure if it is related to the EN or not and my dermatologist felt that it could go either way. However, I am just not convinced that it is related to anything else, although it did start once I got off the potassium iodide and started using the lac-hydrin. Sounds strange, but just trying to function normally. Guest guest
I was very itchy too. My head, and my underarms especially. I had small bumps on my forehead, like little bite marks, but forehead did not itch. Take care. Debbie em 5-7 Today my dermatologist prescribed the hydroxyzine for me to take at bedtime. Guest guest
My doctor's have put the itching down to Excema (which I also suffer from) but at the moment I have EN on my arms, which i have never had before,on my left leg and at the back of neck. I also was given the hydroxzine (which is so hard to get hold off) but it definately knocked me out and redcues the itching. I have also had an outbreak of Hidraventis Supperativa at the moment as well,as well as my body covered in itchy patches! Never thought it was all related! Without this group would have never found out so much information as I have to educate my GP and at the hospital its trial and error, as they cant use setroids on my skin or tablet form (go loopy lol. Thanks for the information., God Bless you all Ann Birmingham England > > One of my docs and I found an itching med that is terrific. > It's called Hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg.........sometimes I take 25, sometimes I > take 50mg when needed. Guest guest
Hi there, I first had EN last summer which was horrible. The pain and lumps were just terrible. Have you got a rash with your itchy skin? If you take a look at my photos on here named 'Coping with EN' my last picture shows the weird itchy rash that covered both my legs! The only relief I found was using witch hazel that had been kept in the fridge, it soothed the itching and eased the redness of it. The rash lasted a couple of weeks.
