Guest guest
Sandy: I think in chains too, but the link to my chains is probably accessed by the five senses. I am a hands on person. I have to do it to learn it. Once I do it several times, it sticks. That is how I learn. I can read it and get part of it, but I really have to do it. I am training a gal at work that has a photographic memory. She was telling me she naturally memorizes pages on information and stores them in her brain naturally to be pulled out at a later date when someone asks a question. She was telling me that this can be a burden to her and she wished at times she could dump her brain to an external drive. Lol We all process information differently. Guest guest
>>Sandy said: This is exactly what I do...just as Daneka described. I probably do the chain thing too a bit (as an NT)..but I take the short cut.... Referring back a bit closer to the letter rather than start at the beginning. Maybe I'm wrong, but whether AS or NT...if asked which letter came before N....none of us would go back to A would we?....Wouldn't it just pop into your mind...M N O?<< Jennie: Well I don't know if everyone does this. I do know that while I can do this now I remember learning to do that when I was pretty old. And even so, up until the last couple years I was only able to split the alphabet into halves. So starting at 'A' or starting and 'M'. In the last couple years I have been able to break it into more segments. >>Sandy: Geez...I have to believe we all think a bit more like that, maybe i'm wrong. But there was an article posted here recently that said Einstein may have had AS. I can't hardly believe that he would have to constantly continue to go back in his thought processes to square one.<< Jennie: I don't know about Einstein but I know that for myself I just got really fast at going back to the beginning. As a kid was was slower than everyone else getting answers to things because of the tedious way I got to the answer so I learned to just do it faster. In the end I appeared to be the same as the rest because I used my process as fast at they used theirs. But that comes with a lot of stress. >>Sandy: Maybe we all think a bit in chains.<< Jennie: Probably, but to what extent, can you pick it up in the middle, how often, etc. On the other hand I am AS and empathetic and sympathetic. Which just goes to show you can't shove anyone in a disgnosis box. Jennie AS As an NT, I can totally relate to most of the explanations the AS folk on this board have for doing most anything. And I think I do many of them just to a FAR lesser degree, or at least in a far less apparent way. Or in a more natural manner, meaning (I think)...that the process is quicker...but somehow the process went through my mind without my knowlege. But if I truly look back on how I think the process went through my mind, it seems to be as being explained by an AS folk. I'm sorry this is not more clear. For example...the chain thing...I must use it too. I just take short cuts. For example...the getting people out of your face thing or not wanting confrontations..or getting out of danger zones... I walk away into other rooms. I may want to yell and shout at them to get out of my face and leave me alone. Just depending on the circumstance, I try to use more tack. I avoid people who I think are negative, mean, cruel, unfair...I go out of my way to not be around them. Etc. For example...I would love to do everything and have everything my way. I just try to understand that there are usually more than one of us involved and it isn't fair. So I try to control my actions. For example...the way someone described the thinking and making connections...I do that too. My mind comes up with the weirdest thoughts and makes the weirdest connections. Sometimes I have to try hard to stay focused. But I can stay very focused if I want to. Logical and Precise talking. I do it in order to be clear, and so now it has become natural. I too have special interests...just not at the expense of "a relationship" I too have tendencies to be a perfectionist...just not to the same degree.. The one thing that seems totally different is the Empathy thing. But the amounts of degree I think are the huge differences in the other areas Self Absorption. Self preservation of time. Control. Me first. This is a huge difference I see in our relationship...my husband and mine. Marriage seems to be an Us thing not a Me thing. Rambling thoughts. Guest guest
, Have you found a way to ask her is she is AS? I can think in chains when it is helpful. If you asked me the 35th digit of pi, for example, I would probably start from scratch and count off the digits, since I really have not correlated them to anything. For letters of the alphabet, I would start anywhere I need to start, and not need a chaiin at all.
