We can buy shirts made in Bangladesh. > We can purchase almost anything we want from many different countries BUT, > heaven help the elderly who dare to buy their prescription drugs from a Canadian > (Or Mexico) pharmacy. That's called un-American! > That's because it is not a free market with the Drug Industry. Because of their patents and legal eagles, they can charge anything they want for their drugs and no one can complain. The idea of going to Canada for drugs is a loophole created by the Canadian government monopoly on Health care. If anyone thinks that the US should go that way talk to a Canadian! If it wasn't for the US medical system Canadians would really be in trouble. Medical rationing is NOT the way to go. Also if you believe in alternative medicine, pray that we never adopt the Canadian system. As bad as ours is, at least we have a choice. > > And you think the pharmaceutical companies don't have a powerful lobby? Think again! > It is not the government's fault as much as it is Medical Industry. We have non profit organizations funding research which allows drug companies to patent new drugs, advertize them, sell them to us and then tell us they need to charge exhorbitant prices to cover their costs. If anybody doesn't believe the National MS society is an fund raiser for the drug industry, look at the full page ads in their magazine!!!
